22 snakes of NJ

In my lifetime afield, I have only seen about half of them...  Garter, Ribbon, Corn, Milk, Copperhead, Black Racer, Black Rat, Green snake but not sure which one, Brown, Redbelly, smooth earth, and Northern Water snake.  I have actually never seen a live rattler.

I also have not seen a rattlesnake in person and am ok with that lol...I once saw a black racer that was one of the most aggressive snakes I have ever seen in the woods. The thing thought he was a rattler or a copperhead...I think that Parker from Space Farms used to get Rattlesnakes for the snake den near Sunrise Mountain in Stokes....

Neat link, I stumbled across my first timber rattlesnake two weeks ago. Would have stepped on him if he hadn't rattled at me! Sucker was impossible to see on the dark wet leaves.

I have seen or caught most of them except for the Ribbon , Timber rattler and copperhead. I got the worst bite from a black Racer, was close to getting stitches from him.

Have not seen a hog nose, either green snake, scarlet milk, worm, southern ring neck, red belly, rattler or copperhead.

I helped do some research on rattlers in college.  Very cool critters, and so long as you don't step on them or do something stupid, they wont bother you.
