I had two close encounters with a sow and cub a couple years ago, both in one day.  First time, I was trapped on a rock when they came around from behind me.  Cub was feeding at the base of the rock, and it was a 15 ft drop off the other side.  For a minute I thought it was coming toward me for a handout.  Sow was popping her jaw as she followed the cub up the hill through the brush.  Later, I almost stepped on the sow napping on the trail when I got to the top.  Again she was snapping her jaw as she approached me.  I was able to back off.   The cub went the other way, so she turned around and followed it.

A few common snakes.  I just deleted my photobucket account that had other snake pics.  They locked my account because I was using it for 3rd party hosting.  They must have changed their policy, now you have to pay to host pics from there.
