  1. Hey fellas, I've always owned shimanos I just love the smooth action they provide, however I am getting tired of buying a new mid range every 2 seasons. I've been considering getting a Van Staal but I heard the new ones aren't as good as the gen 1 models is that true? A friend of mine is selling his for half the price so I am considering buying it. I fish mostly surf/Jetty, fast action plugging poppers etc.
  2. I am selling the items below at a great discount so I can buy some much needed hunting accessories. in late 2019 I bought them for kayak fishing but the inflatable kayak I owned was horrible and I had to return it. Besides the Fishing paddle that I have used twice, the Fishfinder and accessories are all brand new never used. 3. Hello fellow anglers, new to this website looking for a few tips. Recently bought my first sit on kayak and I’m tired of having it in the house, this weekend should be nice so I’m looking to finally take it for a ride. Any suggestions on where to go? Preferably with an easy loading spot since this will be the first time. Any tips or advice for a new kayak angler would be appreciated.
  4. Recently moved to Monroe NJ, looking for trout fishing spots nearby, any recommendations.

  6. left point pleasant thursday at 5pm and made our way to nantucket sholes.we got there at 6:15am friday morning and started throwing bucktails right away.it was not 5 minutes and i hooked a good one.after a short battle they net a 9.7 fluke.i'm thinking here we go but not another bite for 45 minutes.capt makse the call to pick up and we steam 35 minutes and start again.this time its game on with fish on all around the boat.32 peeps were limited by noon with good fluke.i kept the 9.7.10.2 & 10.8.i lifted fish up to 8.4 lbs..every year i say the same thing"best fluking in the world".we then headed to the cod and haddock jigging grounds.we get there around 3:30 and the capt blows the horn.as soon as my jig hits the bottom i'm hooked up with double header pollock.we were catching cod, haddock & pollock all in the same area.we drifted till 8pm and the capt anchors us up for the evening.i'm beat so i eat something and hit the rack.at about 2am one of the mates is shaking me saying that the haddock are biting all around the boat.i roll over and kept sleeping till 4am and i went out and started catching fish too.at 5:30am the capt picks up the anchor and we start drifting and its drop and reel fishing.it was mostly nice haddock with a few cod and pollock.the guy next to me hooks a good fish and starts getting dragged around the boat. alittle while later they gaff a 48 inch 52lb halibut.all i can say is if you have never been its a trip every fisher peep should do.we fished till 5pm and headed back to point.we hit the slip 7am sunday morning with smiles that would not leave our faces.

  15. Greetings all, I am the head guide at the Lodge at River Valley. We are currently looking for up to 5 individuals to join as trial members for the fall fishing season, September 15 - December 15. Our piece of the Musconetcong is just shy of two miles, and has an extremely high rate of holdover fish. With our absolute cap of 20 members, you will often be the only person on the whole stretch. We do stock it, but with an aim to keep fish around for a long time and to keep up with a family of bald eagles! We are 100% fly fishing only / catch & release. The trial membership will run from September 15 - December 15, spanning ideal fall fishing conditions on the Musconetcong which means lots of aggressive streamer takes and colored up brookies, browns, and rainbows. The total cost will be $1700 for four months of pristine trout fishing on one of the New Jersey's most beautiful and undeveloped stretches of river, only an hour from downtown Manhattan. More information and pictures are available at www.thelodgeatrivervalley.com. If you are interested in joining for 2018, annual membership dues at the Lodge are $5700, with a $12,000 initiation which can be paid over the course of 3 years. Most of that goes towards maintenance of the club and the river, but we are also in the process of building a sporting clays course on the Lodge grounds. We currently host 4 clay shoots a year at the Lodge, and we will be hosting our first wing shoot this fall. Bow hunting memberships are also available for the season. There are no guest fees at the Lodge, and you are free to stay overnight in one of the lodge's 3 rooms with a small cleaning charge. Also included with membership are golf and dining privileges at Hawk Pointe, a course just down the road from the lodge. Please contact me at alexanderford120@gmail.com if you are interested and we will find a day for you to come out for a guided day of fishing. Cheers & tight lines Alex Ford The Lodge at River Valley 10 Cornfield Lane, Asbury NJ 08802 thelodgeatrivervalley.com 908-642-8930 Final Fishing Map with Grid copy.pdf
  16. Went out & about Night Scoutin'..... some new territory last night. Totally new place.......An old abandoned sort of old hatchery of some sort, way down by Quakertown NJ. My Grandparent`s used to work/live on a farm in Cherryville & when I`d stay down there in the Summer, I remember Grams taking me to this place to fish. Now I was really young..... maybe 6 or 7 y/o...... but I remember her paying for me to fish in these ponds & as an adult, I`ve never exactly recalled where this place was. Other than I knew it wasn`t too too far from the farm. But I`m pretty certain this would be that park/hatchery that she took me too as a kid. There are eight small ponds........ It`s isn`t a county owned park...... it`s owned by some sort of natural resources group & it is open to the public. Though it`s not very well kept anymore & out of the way..... Anyway...... that was my targeted spot of the evening....... And.... I wrangled up 4 Bass....... two 16" a 17.5" and this beauty a 20" Bucket-Mouth.......Yea...... I think I'll try this spot out again sometime........ Workin` the "Jawbone" top-water Mouse....... again.
  17. Thought you fellows might enjoy readin` `bout my latest adventures.......in the dark. **Just click the pic below to read all about those `Hawgs in the night....... Hope ya like it. Thanks! Ken-

  24. Hey guys, I added a new Store feature in the main navigation menu, which will take you to the NJW&W Amazon Store. I can add to this and customize it to accommodate the members. It's an experimental attempt at promoting some products that are offered through Amazon, which many of us purchase throughout the year. It also sets up the referral program for the site, such that members going through the NJW&W Amazon Store portal will help generate revenue and benefit the site, so I'd like to encourage you guys to use it if you order from Amazon! You can order anything you'd like through the storefront and it will be entirely handle by Amazon directly. If products aren't there you can search all of Amazon.com with the search widget at the bottom of the page, or you can click the logo to navigate directly to Amazon.com and do additional searching/purchases and the referral for NJ&W will carry over to it! Ideally, I'd like to start developing some affiliate relationships and promote products on here that you guys can benefit from, both in terms of the product itself and the pricing. Amazon is just a stepping stone, it has an excellent reputation and service, and the implementation of their customized storefront is pretty straightforward. If you guys have any questions or recommendations on product listings, please let me know! And if it gets a little too hokey and more of an eyesore than it's worth, I'll revise the implementation.
