  1. Since January I lost a lot of weight almost 100 lbs and still losing. That is not specifically what increased my enthusiasm about Bowhunting. With the weight loss and the gyms being closed I lost a lot of strength. I couldn't draw my compound bow. I cranked down the poundage and still couldn't draw it cleanly. I traded one of my muzzloaders for a 40# recurve. At first I didn't think I could get proficient with it until next year. However using string walking I am good out to 20 yards after about a month of practicing. Now I am psyched for the NYS opener on Thursday. It is also the opening of NYS pheasant. I'm thinking pheasant in the morning and stick bow in the afternoon. I didn't think I would be able to use my Treewalker climber because the limbs would hit the rail, but I tried it today and if I set the seat low enough the limbs clear. When I still thought I couldn't use the climber I built a blind between the root systems of two blow-downs. So I can use that too. I also have a spot in a rock outcropping that is equivalent to being in a tree. The bottom line is I am psyched for my first deer using traditional archery in 42 years of bow hunting.
  2. Just signed my daughter up for her bow test. Classes are posted starting August 8. Looks like they will take 12 people per hour. Just FYI
  3. Unfortunately, I haven't had as much time to get in the woods as often as I'd like this year. I plan on getting in the woods starting next Friday through the following weekend and wanted to see if anyone had any feedback to provide pertaining to any rutting or pre-rut activity they're experiencing in zone 2. I walked some of my areas this morning and haven't see too much buck signs aside from a few scrapes, so wanted to see what everyone else was seeing out there. Reading about some early rut action on here so hoping I didn't miss it!!
