Coyote tracks around. They may have pushed him some. He threw everything at me he possibly could. Back tracking, circling around over his own tracks, getting mixed in with a lot of other tracks, briers, walking over beds of weeds covering the snow. He kept bedding after I found the first one. Had good blood in the first beds that showed some hope. The last beds were getting less and less blood in them. He was running out. Thank god for the snow because the specks of blood were hard to track even with it. Last beds were on top of a ridge that dropped off steeply onto the private property. I thought he may have back tracked again because all the tracks heading down showed no sign of blood. I couldn't see what was over the next bench below me along the poster line. Had to make sure though. Was too steep to go down there so I went around and came back along the line. Another bed was on the edge of that bench and he had rolled down to the next landing.
The entrance whole was a little farther back than I would have liked. Thought I had it hugging the shoulder more. Had to catch at least the left lung on the exit. Both lungs were a disaster inside. Missed the stomach. Never seen where I couldn't just reach up and grab the heart. It had a thick membrane around it that had it plaster up against the backbone instead of being down by the brisket. Had a hard time finding it.
You can see how close he came to the posters and being gone
