  1. Much appreciated input. The boots are my lace less slip on steel toes I use for work. I use them because they are so comfortable and always so warm when I work. At first I wasn’t sure if the cold feet were from lack of movement but from what I’m hear the second pair of wool socks may be the culprit here
  2. Not sure what is wrong with me, but every time I go out for a long sit my feet are freezing. I have been wearing two layers of thick wool socks as well as my work boots that have always kept my feet warm on the job but for some reason my feet are freezing two hours into my sit. Any advice or suggestions appreciated.
  3. At this point it is hard for me to say. I have the summit Goliath climber which I am incredibly satisfied with as far as it’s stability and weight capacity given my beer gut. I will say however I don’t like the backpack straps on it and regardless of how well I marry the components of the stand together, how loud it can be. Regardless, to use my climber I need a straight tree with no branches in a good spot in order to be successful. While I do use my climber a lot as I hunt only public land, more and more I am looking for cheap ladder and hang on stands on seller pages and craigslist just bec
  4. I split maybe about 6-8 cords by hand each year. Since I’ve gotten out of laboring and more of a tech job, splitting wood by hand is as much exercise as I get besides walking to the basement fridge for a beer. I have 4-5 different mauls including the smaller lighter one that was posted before. I’ve replaced the handle on all of them multiple times. If the wedge is on tight it should be good for now but once you feel it wiggle, probably after about half a cord, I’d add a wedge. Only splitters I haven’t had the luxury of trying yet are some of the new mauls with the side pieces meant to twist as

  6. Environmental engineer. Basically the guy on a construction site who does no manual labor.
  7. I’m hoping to head out to Black River for my first hunt on Saturday. Been practicing my shooting as well as setting up my stand. Any tips for somone new?
  8. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions for a tree stand for somone who is just starting out and will be hunting mostly public land? I am about 260 and don’t know if a climber would be good. Was just hoping to get some advice from more experienced guys. Also I’ve been target shooting from about 20 yards. I’ve gotten my sights just right where I Stay centered but the shots in my grouping wonder up and down. Any suggestions? Thank you
  9. I would say more of my question is what are the rules and regulations with baiting on public land? Can I bait in a state Forrest , state park, or wildlife management area?
  10. Hello everyone, I recently moved to Budd Lake NJ and am taking my hunting exam on the 27th. I recently picked up a bow and have been practice shooting, also went hunting with a couple of buddies just to observe and learn for the first time last week. That was my first time hunting. Anyway I have a lot of questions getting started. First, am I allowed to bait or use corn on public land as I don’t have access to any private land? Also where are good places to hunt near me? I’ve read the Budd Lake Bog isn’t worth trying. I really just want to learn as much as possible and am excited to get
