Decided to skip the morning and head out for the last hour with my daughter.
Last year she was 2 and we got a few deer with the compound- this year she's 3, and although I didn't have to carry as much stuff as when she was 2, she was extra chatty at 3 lol.
I wanted to try to get my eab with my new black widdow recurve..but that challenge seemed impossible tonight. Mature does stayed st the 25-30 yard mark before smelling her cotton candy lollipop and hearing her spinning in circles on her chair lol.

Successful hunts aren't always measured in deer on the ground! We made some great memories today.

Through support from our friends at the NJ Farm Bureau working with the NJ Dept. of Agriculture, we have been awarded a grant which will allow us to waive the hunters portion of the processing fees for hunter donated deer having a field dressed weight of 50 lbs or more for the entire 2021/2022 hunting season. The total fees butchers receive have been increased to $90/ deer. The fee to hunters for deer having a field dressed weight under 50 lbs will be at $50.00.

HHH originally started to assist hunters who could harvest more deer than they could use personally. Over the years our mission has been expanded. 1) we continue to pay butchering costs for hunters who are able to take more deer than they can use 2) we support various municipal/private property owners that pay for the butchering process directly while they attempt to reduce deer populations on their property and 3) we now are setting aside a portion of the Dept of Agriculture grant(s) to support and pay for butchering of deer taken by farmers and their agents during depredation hunts.

All of our efforts ultimately help the food bank system in New Jersey and those families less fortunate.

Beautiful outdoor space.  The grill is the topper.
I love charcoal grills.  Grew up on them.  Didn't get the first propane grill until after getting married.

I have a Weber propane grill on the back deck and a pit boss smoker on the covered  front porch.   I just finished a summer project patio area and decided a third grill was justified.   Ended up deciding on a charcoal grill and picked up an original Weber kettle.  Cooked 2 dinners on it so far and I’m really enjoying the flavor that charcoal provides.    Looking forward to doing ribs on it soon.

Muck sold to Honeywell a few years ago. They chopped all the engineers and support staff. Their products went downhill when they started cutting corners.
    Those engineers started Dryshod.
They are a great boot. Best knee high waterproof boots i ever owned. I have four different pair.

Killed a big earn a buck doe many years ago, her 3 fawns watched me field dress and followed me for a couple hundred yards while dragging her out.
I wouldn't shoot one and I wouldn't let my son shoot one.
Not against anyone else shooting them.
Only shooting if my heart gets pumping. Find my myself reaching for my camera more than my weapon the last few years.

I would never, ever shoot a spotted fawn even if I were guaranteed a really nice buck the same day.  No way, not even a thought.

Gunsmoke reacted to MGHunter66 in EAB Would you? Should you?
With bow season and the required EAB for the first part of the season right around the corner. I am interested in everyones outlook on obtaining EAB. I read a post on here where a poster(who shall remain nameless) wrote…. “Get your corn piles and stands ready only 3 weeks + away from shooting one of those spotted walking veal chops so you can earn a buck”.(picture below is fitting) We all have our opinions but personally I think it is a despicable act to shoot a spotted fawn knowing that deer does not even know what being hunted is at this point in its life. While legal I do not believe it is ethical, again my opinion. So the question is…. Would you kill a spotted fawn just to get that EAB out of the way? Should you ethically do it just so you can hunt a buck or wait for something at least a year or so old or perhaps without fawns?
