    Moose hunt thread…

Headed up to British Columbia tomorrow morning on a moose hunt… Ill add updates to this thread as I can when a signal is available. As I’ve stated previously I recently had to switch to a release aid from a tab due to nerve damage. Before finalizing my packing I went into the yard and took a couple of shots as far as I can in my yard…42 yards… Then packed it all up wheels up tomorrow at 10:50… I’ll land in the Yukon at 10 pm if all goes well.. Im arriving a day and a 1/2 early to be sure all my luggage has time to catch up in case it gets lost so I don’t loose any hunting days…

  4. Know what happened 171 years ago this summer.... September 9, 1850? California became a state! The people had no electricity, the state had no money and almost everyone spoke Spanish. There were gunfights in the streets. So basically NOTHING has changed except back then the women had real breasts and the men didn't hold hands. And that, my friends, is your history lesson for today.

This will be our kids 1st time in an airplane and 1st time at Disney. Looking forward to having a good time and seeing how much fun the boys have!

    Recent Mule Deer Hunt

We take just two more steps forward toward the bend when both bucks jump up 15 yards away.. we never saw them and they never saw us… they just heard the creek rocks clicking… before they bailed from the creek I had an arrow nocked. They stopped on the Sage flat just trying to find what spooked them I’m sure they thought it was a raccoon or coyote… I asked Trey the range.. good for him knowing his first range was wrong ( 25 yards) so he found an opening in the grass at the bucks head 2 x the rangefinder read 45 yards… I drew back and slowly rose from the weeds… End result…

  10. Well being it’s been warmer now archery for me and the wife’s cousin has been on me to take him out small game hunting so that’s what we are doing. He had a rough time last year with patience, sitting still and being quiet when it came to deer hunting. Had a miss and a few close calls. All a learning experience. This year we are going to kick it off with some squirrel hunting maybe to boost some moral. Hoping to have a good day weathers looking nice and I can already taste the squirrel pot pies!!!( my inner PA hillbilly side)! Happy hunting to all!

    Moose hunt thread…

First update… Newark to Toronto smooth…Get to gate for flight to Vancouver as I’m waiting I get called to the desk… I’m told I can’t get on flight because I didn’t declare my bow. I’ll need to go back to customs and re do everything. I’ve never had that problem before so she makes a call and says all is good… Then I hear her ask how will we get his luggage? Guess time will tell if it makes it… As I’m typing… the stewardess just came to me and said it’s all on board!!

I was very surprised but I was also proud that he did. As an American and bowhunter I am proud to represent our nation and our beloved way of life. I hope you all enjoy the article and the great photos the photographer took as I shot my bow. It was a cool experience and we all need to do our part to make sure we keep our American heritage alive and growing. It is a long read and it also talks about the 2 books I have written, which I hope you all check out. One for children Immigrant, American, Survivor and the other Sunrise Through the Darkness to help anyone in a dark place in their lives both are avaliable at Amazon.com. Best of luck everyone this season and enjoy it! SS!

  16. Yesterday I got my Tenpoint Seige and the Garmin Xzero scope. This morning i put it together and took it to the range. Set up was pretty easy ( I did not listen to the instructions 15 clicks for an inch and was more cautious which made me take longer) Between assembling and setting up i would say and hour and fifteen minutes. I shot from 20 -50 yards and a bunch of spots in between. I have a Rhinehart 18-1 block. I can hit the center dot at 50 yards 9 out of ten times. The only time i missed was by about an inch still dead deer. Will try some broadheads soon but for now very happy with my purchase. Compact ( a little heavy) and accurate . Shout out to Wyvern Creations for setting up a nice package and sending some extras for free.! I still intend to try to get within 20 yards but its nice to know if something comes in at 42 yards I have the option. I was regretting getting rid of my Ravin , not saying this is better but so far i like it and its more compact.

    Recent Mule Deer Hunt

A day and 1/2 into the hunt I ended up with a urinary tract infection and a stomach virus… Not fun constantly having to relieve myself. A few days in the bigger bucks started showing themselves. On the third morning after sneaking in on a smaller bucks we spotted hoping he was with bigger bucks we couldn’t see ( he was alone) the truck broke down… The other guide and his hunter came to pick us up while driving back to camp we spotted 5 bucks 4 good ones in the group. Long story short the bucks bedded in 2 different groups 60 yards apart. The 4 of us slipped into the middle of them using the creek bottom. 3 bucks bedded on Sage flat 2 were bedded in the creek with us… we were able to get within 35 yards of each group… The other hunter was gonna crawl up 10 yards closer to the 3 bucks and hopefully get a shot at the bigger of the 3 bedded together as I stood 30 yards from the other two bedded around a slight bend in the creek. I could just see the tops of their antlers… A wind shift cause “ my” bucks to bust out taking the other 3 with them. The other hunter started bitching and moaning that we never should have done this together..I was like are you nuts? We just spent 20 minutes within spitting distance of 5 wild deer and possibly could have killed two of them… if you don’t think that’s fun you shouldn’t be hunting

  26. Just wanted to share my recent hunt in South Dakota. Let me preface by saying after shooting fingers my entire life I’ve had to switch to a release aid a few weeks ago due to nerve damage not allowing me to get my fingers off the string. The first couple days of the hunt were slow.. finding shooter bucks was tough. I did take the opportunity to sneak up on a few that I didn’t intend on shooting just for still hunting practice…. Here are a couple of bucks we got 18 yards on…

  41. You need to paper tune with a "bare" shaft. Once you have two or three shots with the same or similar paper tear then you can begin your adjustments of rest and nocking point. The object is to get a clean bullet hole at 7-10 feet.

any forum can start a poll - it's an option when you create the topic. Right up top - you will see CONTENT in one tab on left, and POLL in one tab to the right. Make sure you populate both tabs. The poll options are fairly intuitive. I just went into to edit your post and saw the POLL tab exactly where I stated, and added a simple poll question "do you know how to create a poll?".

    7 Yotes

We have had lots of coyotes in zone 6 for many decades now. Yes, they 100% take adult deer and not just in deep snow years. But anyone that understands the predator/prey balance know it is just that, a constant balancing act. The yotes cannot kill all your deer. They likely take less than car bumpers. But a local pack can influence local deer herds just like EHD can and is doing this year in many places.

  47. 4th morning we called in 4 bulls. Zero shot opportunities. 4th night.. I got dropped off at the watering hole and the guide said the water is done after tonight (drying up). Keep that in mind and the hunt is going to get tougher. I got dropped off at 10am for the evening hunt made 2 different ground blinds depending on wind. Around 6pm I heard a Bugle from about 400 yards away. I got ready. The bull then bugled at about 150 yards and I couldn’t see him. Finally say a 6x6 smaller bull at 90 yards and he walked into 35 yards. I let the arrow fly. I double lunged him and he folded up 100 yards from the shot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We packed up and headed to the other side of the ranch to find a good buck. We would have to stop often so I could pee… on one of the pee stops the guide (Trey) spots a great buck down below 500 yards away… thank god I had to pee because he wasn’t visible when we were driving by… He has amazing eyes when they are open.
