  1. I have these elevated pop up blinds all over our farm. They're 5x5 and building them and getting them stood up is a one man job with no heavy equipment needed (an atv to haul the wood is helpful). I usually build them on the spot. Cut the wood at home and assemble in the field with fastners and a driver. But I wanted to add skids to one so I could move it around in season if deer activity dictates. I added these 2x6 skids by using the same angle brackets as the floor just flipped upside down. It tows fine. If you have a heavy shooting house on top I'm not sure these skids would hold up. They do just fine with my pop up.

  3. I took the kayak out again on Saturday morning...a much better tide this Saturday compared to last Saturday when I took home only 18 crabs. But this Saturday I had a great tide and took home around 60 !! 4 drop lines with chicken legs ...the first hour was slow and I made 5 different moves until I hit an area that kept me going crazy with action for the last 3 hours. I stopped off at a friends house to do all the cleaning and gave him most of them..not enough room in my freezer ! A bunch cooked to put in the fridge for a cold treat, a bunch on the grill and the rest for sauce !

  4. As title says and man what a blast! Not sure why I haven’t done it earlier! Was devastated after a real nice smallie broke my spinner bait 2 feet of the boat. But then regrouped and caught couple fish. Ended with a 18” smallie! so beautiful out there just amazing!

  6. I'd like to think that Chris Jr. and I did a great job mentoring one of his good buddies Stephen who showed an interest in hunting. He shot a doe on opening day and then shot this beautiful 4 or 5 year old buck tonight w/ his compound bow that weighed about 180 pounds! Not a bad first week of your hunting career… September 18th, 2021 Somerset County A HUGE thank you goes out to my buddy Lee from NJW&W who provided the young man with a free compound bow to get him started!

    The Scarlet Plague

I just read this short book by Jack London which was written in 1912 about the future. The story takes place in 2073, some sixty years after major epidemic killed most people on our planet, (in year2013). By 2073 there were only few small tribes in the San Francisco area, where the story takes place, and they were reduced to hunter-gatherer nomadic life, without any knowledge of things like education, money, science and almost anything else we take for granted now. The lone survivor tells the story of what happened in 2013 and it is remarkable how someone in 1912 could accurately predict what our world would look like some 100 years in the future and how we would behave in face of this type of virus. There was no cure and no one survived after exposure….. it was a super bug! After the experience with Corona I am inclined to think this could happen very soon. Take a look it’s a short 2 to 3 hr read.

    Recent Mule Deer Hunt

We take just two more steps forward toward the bend when both bucks jump up 15 yards away.. we never saw them and they never saw us… they just heard the creek rocks clicking… before they bailed from the creek I had an arrow nocked. They stopped on the Sage flat just trying to find what spooked them I’m sure they thought it was a raccoon or coyote… I asked Trey the range.. good for him knowing his first range was wrong ( 25 yards) so he found an opening in the grass at the bucks head 2 x the rangefinder read 45 yards… I drew back and slowly rose from the weeds… End result…

    Recent Mule Deer Hunt

Just wanted to share my recent hunt in South Dakota. Let me preface by saying after shooting fingers my entire life I’ve had to switch to a release aid a few weeks ago due to nerve damage not allowing me to get my fingers off the string. The first couple days of the hunt were slow.. finding shooter bucks was tough. I did take the opportunity to sneak up on a few that I didn’t intend on shooting just for still hunting practice…. Here are a couple of bucks we got 18 yards on…

  14. I actually did a spreadsheet. See below. This includes everything. I had to kind of guess on fastners. You can save alot if you skip the brackets...you may have to add some more cross bracing then. Also, I bought PT for all the wood, maybe some doesn't have to be. Finally, nails are cheaper than deck screws but I'm lazy. I didn't think I would need to anchor these, but you do. The pop up blind acts like a sail and high winds will knock it over. I just use those earth anchors and ratchet straps and they work fine. Anchoring stuff is included as well. The only thing not included is the chair. I put an $8 walmart camping chair in each of mine.

  16. I've been hunting for about 50 years. My advice to anyone hunting South African animals is forget about everything you know about deer hunting because it doesn't apply to these critters. Recommendations: 1. Listen to your PH. He stressed to me to follow the leg to the center of the body and shoot at the "shoulder". They do not care about pass thru's. I was scared to death about hitting large bones and subconsciously aimed further back. The lungs in African Animals are way forward. I shot my Eland in the "crease" behind the shoulder, not on the shoulder as he said. 2. Forget about your "speed compensating" scope. Use the 2x or a Red Dot scope. All your shots will be close and you need a good field of view for the big critters. 3. The PH and Trackers are EXPERTS in their field. They hunt 9 months a year and kill hundreds of animals of all types a year. Believe what they tell you even if it goes against your intuition. 4. My PH had a few words of wisdom. He said "the American Indians lost the war because they had bows and arrows and the Cavalry had guns". I got the message. LOL 5. If you want to shoot a bunch of animals with little drama, take a Rifle. LOL. 6. Consider your equipment. How susceptible is it to malfunction. My Stealth had an Accudraw on it. The last morning of the hunt, the cord slipped out of the sled after full draw. The bow could be shot but not cocked again. I had two B/U plans for that. I could convert to a rope cocker or use my other bow. You don't want to be on a remote hunt with a broken bow. The area is dry and dusty. My Accudraw stopped retracting on the third day. Luckily a little oil fixed that. If anyone has any questions please fell free to ask. Now for some other pics:

  18. First morning of hunting we had 6 or so bulls bugling and we made a MAD run to a big group. My legs were smoked in the first 2 hours of the hunt. The altitude was no good for my health. We spotted a monster 380 inch plus bull at 100 yards…. We tried to put a sneak on him but got busted by his girlfriends. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Recent Mule Deer Hunt

A day and 1/2 into the hunt I ended up with a urinary tract infection and a stomach virus… Not fun constantly having to relieve myself. A few days in the bigger bucks started showing themselves. On the third morning after sneaking in on a smaller bucks we spotted hoping he was with bigger bucks we couldn’t see ( he was alone) the truck broke down… The other guide and his hunter came to pick us up while driving back to camp we spotted 5 bucks 4 good ones in the group. Long story short the bucks bedded in 2 different groups 60 yards apart. The 4 of us slipped into the middle of them using the creek bottom. 3 bucks bedded on Sage flat 2 were bedded in the creek with us… we were able to get within 35 yards of each group… The other hunter was gonna crawl up 10 yards closer to the 3 bucks and hopefully get a shot at the bigger of the 3 bedded together as I stood 30 yards from the other two bedded around a slight bend in the creek. I could just see the tops of their antlers… A wind shift cause “ my” bucks to bust out taking the other 3 with them. The other hunter started bitching and moaning that we never should have done this together..I was like are you nuts? We just spent 20 minutes within spitting distance of 5 wild deer and possibly could have killed two of them… if you don’t think that’s fun you shouldn’t be hunting

  25. Depends how far downstream you go. I tube it during the summer ourselves. There’s a point where the current gets pretty strong near the old piers of a no longer existing bridge. I’ve seen a couple people almost drown swimming against it after jumping off the cliffs. If you go with someone you can leave a car at the welcome center on 80 and one at anyone of the various boat ramps up old mine road. But overall the current is very slow most of that part.

So. I finally got my lawnmower back today. It has been in the shop for about 6 weeks. Needless to say my grass was a bit high. I was about halfway through mowing the yard when this little guy/girl jumped up 2 feet from my lawnmower and scared the crap out of me. I passed by it once before but, I never saw it. It walked around they yard for a few minutes. Then decided to camp out next to my arrow backstop of all places. Judging by the size of the fawn, when do you think mom was bred?

  35. Again, sorry for the threads being broken up. Once I post a pic, I can't continue it. I previously posted the video of the shot but here it is again. The PH was confident about the shot. It was sent and reviewed by other PH's and they all agreed, DEAD ELAND. The shot was only 15 yds. Had I not reduced the magnification on the scope to 2X, the animal would have appeared as a big brown blob with no view of the entire body. The arrow passed through that huge animal and came to a stop about 50 yds behind the Eland. Amazing penetration and the Slick Trick was unscathed. We waited about an hour, called for the Tracker and picked up the trail. About 60 yds into the bush, the PH sees it in his Binos, laying down but with it's head up. We back out, go to lunch and pick up a recovery trailer. Long story short, we tracked till dark, following blood all the way but it never stopped moving. The next morning we pick up the track and the Tracker finds it dead. Here is a picture of how we found him and the recovery effort. VID-20210918-WA0047_01.mp4

  36. I own several Surefire lights, and they are great. I beat them up pretty good between work, hunting, camping, etc and never had an issue with any of them. My oldest one is about 15 years old and it's still going strong.

The .260 was introduced in 1997 and by 2017 was barely surviving. Being that it is a Model 7600 it is a much newer model than a 760, the gun itself ain't rare at all. I don't know if it has value to a collector or not but that price is ridiculously insane for a Remington 7600. Unless a leprechaun riding a unicorn turns the bullets into gold upon exiting the barrel and you can catch him and harness that power
