    Nice buck on fathers day

Got a pic on my spypoint. Made my day. I love the feeling of knowing there will be a monster to chase.

    Cast net suprise

Our cast netting perch for catfish bait with my son. Caught this little guy pretty far from the river here in Gloucester County. One good catfish so far

    Woodpile Doe

Last spring I noticed a few times I would walk back to where I split my firewood, a doe would run off from the edge of the woods. I looked around and found her bed right against one of my woodpiles. I figured she was probably going to drop her fawns there but I never saw them if she did. Eventually she stopped using the bed. This year, the same thing happened in the same exact spot, I put up a trail camera and will monitor her and see what happens. So far, I've captured about 40 pictures of her in a few days. I adjusted the camera after these pictures so the next batch should have a better view of her bed.

    1st Shad

My son and I were fishing the flatbrook and caught a bunch of trout and some smallmouth. On the way home we stopped along the Delaware and shad were jumping all over. We managed to get a few each but saw many more than we caught. Thanks for the darts Jack.

  21. Last post for the upper two sections we completed today. Our client had us help build and install lunker structures which are made of locally sourced oak from a nearby mill. They create undercut bank habitat for trout.

    Pond?

Here is a one acre (.97) pond we built. Required a well connection, lined pond and lined stream, two 300 gallon/minute pumps, fishing points, dock, and habitat that cost just over $1 million. An acre is actually a large pond. All you need is 1/4 to 1/3 acre pond. This one is 11’ at its deepest and holds trout.

    Vortex Optics Service

Just wanted to relay my experience with Vortex Optics. I sent a pair of binoculars into Vortex to deal with an issue of a dust like substance getting into the binos and dulling them a bit. I had them for a number of years. I sent them in on February 12 and was surprised to see they were returned today. What fast service!!! Better yet my old glass was replaced by a brand new pair of 8X42 binoculars. I don't think I ever received a faster turnaround than this. I would have got them yesterday, but I put my old street instead of my new street on the return form. Contacting UPS and making Vortex aware they resolved it all pronto. UPS made an off route delivery to get the package to me. Totally impressed from a company standing behind their 100% warranty, as well as UPS getting right on the snafu.

    A Comin' and A Goin'

This thread has some good pictures of mature persimmon trees, so I thought I would add some summer pictures of persimmon leaves, flowers, and fruitlets. The first picture is a good example of persimmon leaves and flowers. This tree is a claypool A118 otherwise known as elmo. The second picture is of a mature Prok persimmon in late stages of flowering, with some fruitlets. In the third picture is one of my persimmon grafts that survived. It was the middle of June before the buds burst letting me know the graft was alive. All sprouts below the graft union need to be periodically removed or else the scion will not take.

    Pond?

That would be great but I would imagine very expensive, unless you could do it yourself. If you have a water source and access to a dozer would not be to tough. 1 Acre is pretty big might want to consider less if paying someone. Permits could also be expensive.

    Pond?

The simple answer is to find your water source first and go from there. Also, we dig test pits to see if we have groundwater or need a well drilled. You can easily spend over $1 million if a full acre, lined, with a well drilled for water, and a recirculating stream which would also be lined. If you’re lucky and your soils hold water and any pond will fill with groundwater and no recirculating stream, it will cost much less.

    Pond?

Get a survey. The last thing you want is to invest a ton of money into a pond and not have a dependable water source.
