  1. I broke the ice! My first 20 gauge sabot slug reload. There is no stopping me now. It is a new Fiocci hull, with a CCS sabot, a CCS nitro card a 10 mm waxed card, a 1/8" paper card, Blue Dot powder and a Hornady XTP 45 cal 250 gr bullet. Should shoot 1640 FPS out of my Savage 220. I hope it is accurate. Going to load up 9 more and see how they shoot before I load up any others. Hopefully, finally free of high prices, politics and shortages! Thanks for all the help.

  2. A few days ago mr12guage offered up some free jerky to try. He messaged me a few times but I had so many messages going on I forgot to get back to him. Anyways, just a few minutes ago, I have a knock at the door. First thing I think it's the cops and they finally caught up to me. But to my great relief it's him with some jerky and venison bacon. I'm waiting impatiently for it to defrost so my son and I can devour it. For no reason and the goodness of his heart he came and delivered it. Very kind!! So if you guys want jerky, just post your address here and he can swing by with some Thank you Mr12guage again!

  4. And not just air temps, but water temps as well. Many anglers are easily frustrated when they hit local trout streams on warm days like we have on the horizon. They see hatches of midges and little black stoneflies coming off or crawling on the snow, but the trout aren’t on the feed. The problem is often melting snow cooling the water and making it rise that throws the trout off. Remember, they are cold blooded and water temps below 50 mean they slow down their metabolism to adjust. The colder the temp, the less they need to eat. And more cold water from the melt coming down while they are trying to conserve energy means they will really hunker down. Sometimes it’s best to fish that first warm day before the snow melt drops water temps further. And sometimes it’s just best to wait it out until most of the snow along your favorite trout stream is melted. We often get freezing temps for a few days followed by warmer days, so you really need to pick your spots if you want to catch them feeding on the first decent hatches of the new year.

  12. My buddy and I put in lots of hours on the car the last 2 days. Outer wheel well, trunk entension, etc, all welded in place. After checking and rechecking the body lines and quarter panel and fit at least 25-50 times, it was tack welded tonight. Tons of grinding, sanding, massaging. Very happy how well the project is coming. The rear is basically all new metal and the trunk was sanded down and painted tonight. Seam sealer was used before painting them...Used panel clips to hold the quarter skin as it was tack welded in place. It is cool seeing the Chevelle come together...Now it is getting to be fun....

  13. I fed corn heavy at 5 spots until January then stopped. I just can't get to the spots anymore there's too much snow. I keep saying I'm going to keep feeding my yard but there's literally no deer or tracks anywhere I'm not sure theybare even traveling to find it. Snow is very deep in north jersey for several weeks now. I dont know if I'd be helping or hurting by giving them feed. I hate to see the herd suffer life this.. all animals.. I dojt know how anything could survive snow this deep for this long. Saddens me.. Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk

  14. I didn't shoot it. But here you go - for those who wonder if we have them in this state (If this isn't a feral hog, then I can't explain why someone would kill their pig and dump it without taking the meat). Yes, I did report it when I found it - left a message on the phone number NJ DFW provides. In South Jersey, but don't ask me where - I plan on going back tonight and hunt the nearby area for yotes Besides, I have a feeling this was shot somewhere else and dumped in this location within the past 24 hours. I'm not even sure if it was shot; I didn't touch it, but if it wasn't shot in the head, it looked like perhaps its throat was slashed. Couldn't really tell.

  16. I would say, based on the position of the hog and the blood pattern, this is without a doubt a mountain lion kill. Did you look for tracks?

  17. Guarantee they won't let you down. We used them before we switched to natural gas. Cheap and they come right out when you call. @Swamp_Yankee, I can't believe how many people are freaking out about what is really a normal winter (or was) for our area this year. Suddenly everyone is a pantywaist. I don't understand how we got so soft, so quick(?). Give Hackettstown Oil a call and let them know you have a long dirt road.

Way off subject but today is the 41st anniversary of the miracle on ice. To me that was the greatest sports moment in recent history.

  19. I carry 40# of survival gear when I go into the woods. Think I'm kidding? Ask Lou. When I go into the woods I don't plan on coming out for at least a day. Compass, food, extra blanket, fire starters (multiple), and a 4-person first aid kit. When you get injured in the woods, you may not have a chance to get back out. Have a plan to hunker down and be safe until help arrives.

  21. Pre-season, August specifically, I was seeing some good bucks in a summer bachelor group. Those bucks seemed to have disappeared after late Sept. The only nice buck I saw during the season was this 3.5yo 6-point. In the pic here, he's missing a brow tine. I almost got him chasing a doe during the rut. The first time I tried to stop him he didn't hear me...the second time he did and stopped but with obstructions in the way, so I didn't shoot. He was so rutted up, I could smell him from 20 yards away and his stink lingered in the area. He had a small U-shaped range from what I could tell and spent most of his time in the floodplain during daylight. He will be a dandy at 4.5yo next year, if he survives...

  26. I love Upstate NY, particularly the Northern Tier and the Adirondacks. Nothing like being able to walk 5 miles back and not see a sole (including deer 😂). Some pics from the last couple years. This is the first year we didn’t shoot something on our couple day backpacking hunt. We were there for the 60 degree spell. I went back up to hunt from the “houses” and made a rookie mistake on a decent one after he almost ran me over chasing a doe. I ejected two perfectly good shells trying to figure out why my gun wouldn’t shoot. Turns out the safety on my gun was working fine 😂😂 Marlin 336 Lever in .35 Rem. My other levers don’t have a cross bolt safety lol. Old habits lol and the last few years been using my 7600 Carbine.

  28. Have to agree with you a little bit. Same for some rifle hunting ammo such as 30-06 & 308. For the most part most seasons are over with and two loads I usually use haven’t been available at all. You can’t tell me that some of it shouldn’t be available gradually by now

X2! Why is the value of hunting placed on success? What ever happened to just walking an old logging road for miles and exploring what nature has for us to enjoy! For me, it is as simple as feeding a Canada Jay out of my hand! It does not bother me one bit if I never shoot another deer.

    Deer are Hungry

Corn will only kill them if they have not eaten it in a long time and then they fill their bellies with it. Once their digestive systems have acclimated to corn they can pig out on it all day long. In the midwest, where they produce some of our biggest bucks, corn is a major part of their diet.
