  3. Got out today with my friend Bob to wet a line. We had good action with many shorts, and got 3 keepers, including a fluke with a deformed head. Looks like someone tried to eat him before me. The wound apparently healed nicely.

  7. Picked up some Pat LaFrieda brisket and short rib burgers to grill on the Weber before work tonight. Put them on fresh wheat ciabatta rolls slightly toasted, with sauteed onions, bacon, provolone, and Sweet Baby Ray's. Was a total hit with the family. Excellent product and they were definitely not "just" a burger. Will make again without a doubt....

  9. Murphy is a disgrace. All the diners and resturants will be out of business if they do not get 100% indoor dining by October. By then, the weather will just make it to cold for morning breakfast and late afternoon/evening dinner dining What ashame. My wife and I are in Summerville SC this week. We have our townhome for sale and are exiting NJ for good. We have been to a Italian resturant and a Mexican resturant for dinner and full indoor dining. Wear you mask while going to/from your table. No problem. Businesses and resturants in good shape down here. I really feel to these people

  12. Headed out with Booner and his son after work tonight . Crazy wind had us fishing 8 oz even with the 12'drift sock out. But fish wanted to chew . Brandon had first two keepers in the box . Mike and I then limited out soon after . Fished over an hour looking for the last keeper . Lots of shorts to keep action going . Winds dropped out with the sunset and we flew home on flat seas. Nicest fish goes to Booner with one just under 7 pounds .

  13. We opted not to. However, we have $200 a month dedicated to the dogs. What’s not spent, keeps rolling over. Figure if I ever need a surgery, dog is covered vs paying $50/80 a month to a company that then may or may not cover the big things. Had to put it to the test this year actually. Dropped 6k on my one dog- of which only $1,500 would have been covered by pet insurance (from looking at multiple plans). At his age, doing the math, id have saved $300 over 6 years if I had insurance. Plus most vets have zero interest payment plans if you needed to do that. you wi

  15. So many things out of your control here in NJ. Neighbors, land owners , farmers , hunters, trespassers and poachers with a long hunting season. The best you can do is keep your property quieter than the surrounding properties, apply the least amount of hunting pressure, provide year round food, cover and water. Never shoot guns unneccesarily. Quads and farm equipment such as tractors, if they are used often, the deer pay no serious attention as long as you are going slow and they can hear you coming. If you are ripping through the woods, forget it. Establish that sanctuary a

  16. Hey everybody. How much wild game do you guys eat? Ive got to the point where I don't buy red or white meat from the grocery store. I do buy fish and seafood I also will eat "standard meats" out at restaurants and if others cook for me. I find I eat 2-3 decent sized deer in a year plus various upland game birds, snow geese and this year two turkeys. I've found (without naming names) a lot of hunters and regrettably even some of my friends aren't always interested in keeping their quarry which I capitalize on. I want to figure out squirrels and rabbits as a bit of a safety net in case I don't

On a side note I'm glad ny father got me into reloading young.. i buy in somewhat bulk to keep cost lower. But the bennifit is when crap like this happens i usually have more than enough components to carry me through shooting as I normally would

  27. Listen to @tcook8296 folks.. that is my point... These same idiots that blast away not knowing what is bedding 50 yards off their property then will try and hunt them later on (want a big buck of course like every hunter) - only to then shoot a spike because that is all they saw, just have no clue as to what deer will tolerate. I bet 70% of deer hunters in NJ have no clue what a 2.5 year old, 90" 8pt will tolerate let alone a 5.5 year old stud. Think about it - we live in the most densely populated state in NJ, in many areas a 20 acre sanctuary could hold the next state record. IN AN

  29. The 212A is the NJSP online background check, not a replacement cost for the FID. If a new applicant wants an initial card the fees are: Fingerprints $54 and $5 for the card. No 212 A because the criminal check is done by fingerprints. If the card is lost, stolen, name change the fee is $21 for the 212A NJSP online background check and zero for a new card. If a returning applicant wants a change of address and a handgun permit the fee is $21 for the 212A NJSP online background check, $2 for a handgun permit, and zero for the Change of Address and a new card. Our idiot Governor has exactly what he and the left want. Total control. BTW I guess I should change my name to LanceinNJ, since I've been here for 2 years now.

  42. It also makes a difference if people are shooting every day (like at a range) that the deer get used to it. Ive seen deer, bear, and turkey at cherry ridge range walk across a live range like its nobodies business! Other places, ive seen deer associate a gun shot with danger and off they go

  46. Nothing really. we bring in the butterfly eggs once we find them or any caterpillars once we find them. We pick leaves or parsley stems and wash them off before we put them in the containers to get get rid of unwanted insects. Ants have been a big problem this year for us we use borax and powder sugar in small containers with lids but small holes cut in the side to allow ants in, the sugar attracts the ants and the borax kills them.
