  3. Fished a half day Thursday , and a few hours Saturday with the Guys and Gal from Berkley trying some new products soon to come out this fall , as well as see some stuff almost ready for next fall .. some cool new designs as well as colors coming . also got to fish the new Fenwick inshore rods , and Penn LoW profile reels . nice new super light set ups . fishing was slow Thursday with just a handfull of keepers and a bunch of shorts . hurricane really stirred and chilled the waters down . Saturday morning saw an improvement with shorts but keepers were still scar

  4. Junior was able to get in some good riding/practice in at the track today with his YZ250f. My wife said he paced himself and took lots of breaks. He was loving it since it was the first time they had the bike and truck at the track together since it reopened.. They are on the way back all in one piece. I think if I grew my hair out my new nickname would be greybeard! All good.

  5. Took my uncle out Saturday. Watsr temperature has dropped a lot since before the storm. Last week it was 77-78 and yesterday it was as low as 68 and then 73 in the afternoon. Definitely has everything screwed up. I decided to run out for some seabass and it was drop and reel on them as they were 20+ for thick. Looked for bigger ones but could only find the bigger ones around 14". Also caught half dozen Mackerel (keeping them for bait)and a few bluefish. Then decided to run in for fluke. Caught decent amount of shorts and a few keepers. Caught a lot of bluefish while fluking also. My uncle wan

  7. My son and I headed up to Eastmans on the njfishing charter. We caught a bunch of whiting, but they were mostly small. Got some nice haddock and ling too, and also a couple pollock. My son got a nice cod that had to go back. Fishing was in water from 270 to 330 feet deep, but we were able to use 10-12 oz sinkers. I have some whiting in a brine now to go in the smoker tomorrow. There was a fantastic sunrise and we had a seal hang around the boat a while. A big thresher slapped the water with it's tail10 feet from the boat. Overall it was a solid trip.

  8. Been hunting for 30 years and my longest shot was 33 yards and it was effective. I will go with that. I like them close. With a bow it’s always been about how close can I shoot them not how far.

  12. Went to Somerset County to throw another ratchet on my stand and put up my strap-on bow hanger. Saw 20 deer on the property including a bachelor group of 8 bucks, some of which were hot prospects! Enjoying Season 5 of Midwest Whitetail's Chasing November series...it's almost time boys woo hoo!!!

  13. Had a blast today with my buddy Bill and his son Will. I had the privilege of being a mentor to Dad in all things outdoors, especially Bowhunting deer, and now his boy wants to learn about crabbing. We had a successful trip and left them biting after about 3/4s of a bushel. Will was a great student and a good time was had by all! Now for the feast!

  17. Most recent from this year. A little pissed I parked on the highway instead of the lot, and had to leave early or chance getting a ticket for being on a snow covered road. Good thing, cause when I crested the hill I saw a black vehicle behind my truck. Wasn't sure if it was a cop so I pressed the fob to lock the truck and flash the lights and beep to let him know I was coming from a good 200yds away. Then stopped to take this selfie. Unmarked suv with blacked out windows. Didn't open window or come out to say anything but was nice enough to wait until I got to the truck to make sure I w

  20. only ONE MAN can confirm what it is - @Tarhunt, my poor buddy with 2,000 staples in his knee right now would love to be out killin' every pest and bug on earth... If we are seeing a surge in freaky insects - he might be at fault for blowing out his quadracep - knee tendon!

  23. If they are beholden to the DMV, don't hold your breath. I don't know how anyone is able to get anything done with the DMV right now - it is so screwed up at the moment. Half the centers designated as one of the new "vehicle centers" close daily before noon - no new customers for that day. And you have to wait hours (usually get in line hours before they open) just to get in that day. It's a complete cluster - the DMV is mismanaged.

  24. I could effectively shoot into a cigarette pack at a hundred yards with both my compound and xbow . but as Todd wrote an archer sees how far he can shoot , a Bowhunter sees how close he can get !!!!!! Every good buck I have taken I was able to shoot under 17 yards . Absolute chip shots .

  34. IDK what's the big deal. Use the boat and enjoy. Don't get worked up over something you can't control. I registered two boats online and I have yet to see anything from DMV. I'm not going near the DMV for anything.

  35. My average shot distance is 20 to 25 yards. My preferred range is 25 to 30 yards. My longest kill shot on a whitetail was 57 yards. My longest kill shot on anything else was 64 yards. The sight on the bow I'm currently shooting is a custom Montana Black Gold Ascent. It's a five pin slider with alternating yellow and green pins. The first three pins are .019 the last two are .010. I've never used the slider feature on it so I don't think I'd ever order that set up again.

  36. Go to the NJ fish and game website. You really should do some research on what you need. The prices and costs should tell you what you have and don't have. Do your homework. It's the least you can do considering you will be walking around other people with a firearm. You owe to your self and to the other outdoorsmen around you. If you truly do have your Hunter education card you should be able to do it all online.

  37. 20 yard's was my Max with the recurve,30 with the compound. Can't do it anymore physically. A relaxed deer broadside @60 yards with my xbow is a horse of a different color.

  39. With vertical, which I hardly use anymore it was under 40, most kills under 20. With crossbow I set up for 30 to 40 yard shots but since I don’t bait I can not predict how close or far the shot may present itself so I practice and feel very comfortable to 60 yards. I don’t take shots over 40 yards unless everything is perfect, including animal’s demeanor.
