Wildlife Biology 401 (Pic Heavy)

I put this deer carcass out last Monday. Several live deer checked it out, some for over 15 minutes. What's interesting about this pic is the bobcat to the right background. Cat waited for a long time, until the deer left, prior to feeding.

 

Cats will cover their food source, as this one has attempted to do.

 

The dominant eats first.

 

No conflict here. Pics over the next several minutes show the coyote patiently waiting for the bobcat to finish.

 

The bobcat keeps eating.

 

Bobcat still unconcerned with the presence of the coyotes.

Pics show the bobcat leaving and then the coyote walks in to feed.

 

And then the bobcat comes back.

 

FYI - these are the same two cats that seem to be frequenting this area.

Wow man, that is just plain AWESOME! Such a great set of pictures showing the dynamics of nature and competition for food!
