Years ago Lampreys put a hurting on the Lake Trout and Salmon population in Lake Champlain. Thanks to the DEC and conservation minded fisherman they put the brakes on and all but alleviated the problem.

Ive watched Lamprey's swimmimg up the Flatbrook. I guess they were going to spawn. We would toss them on the bank to die.

Anyone fishing the Delaware sees these regularly. Sometime when I'm fly fishing in spring, I accidentally step in one of their spawning redds and they wrap themselves around my waders and that always freaks me out at first.
