Normally they ask for your FID and that's it.  Never had them tell me to go get special permission.

Probably an uneducated sales person.

They cannot sell it with an adjustable buttstock, it would have to be pinned.  They could not sell it with a flash suppressor, but the muzzle break is fine.  They cannot sell it with a >15-rnd magazine.  Those are the only restrictions, and they are on the sale/transfer of the weapon.

Sapere aude.

Audeamus.

When you cannot measure, your knowledge is meager and unsatisfactory.

Total BS. If it was illegal to own in NJ they would be breaking the law possessing it. All FFL holders in NJ are type 7. There has never been a FFL with a class 3 issued in NJ which would allow that holder to possess illegal platforms, 3 shot burst, or full auto guns.

It's not called Dick's for nothing.

Sent from my flip phone with the big buttons so I can see them

He was probably referring to an FID card. There is nothing else, period.

Not true.

Rays sport shop in Plainfield held one.

Much of the damage to the shooting range walls were from Dwight and some of his police friends shooting fully auto toys there.

I would be that the OP's nephew misunderstood what the clerk was asking for and the clerk was not clear that what he really wanted  was a firearms purchasers ID card.
