madcat2 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I've used and had great success with topwater plugs (jointed rapala's mostly) for late night action. Anyone have sucess with different rigs? Spent Brass Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Had a lot of luck on the Delaware river with the Zara spook Hunting and fishing is not a sport to me its a way of life:rock:
Scrubby rack buck Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 what about jigs and bait?? and specifly , can anyone tell me your go to rig/bait for lake hopatcong??? Sorry if I quasi jacked your thread but I was curious... I never caught a walleye...
madcat2 Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 Like i mentioned in my post, topwater-jointed rapalas (specifically J9 & J11's, gold & silver) have worked for me at night. I have used live bait & jigs also. Yes, Lake Hopatcong. There are areas of LH that walleye, LM's and occasionally hybrid SB are actively feeding at night and they will attack topwater plugs like crazy. Try a nighttime fish sometime, Walleye or SB will suprise the sh*t out of you when they hit your topwater plug! I was just looking for what others have had success with. The hybrids put up a better fight IMO. "Nothin makes a dad happier than seeing his daughter with a smile on her face and her boyfriend with fear in his eyes" - Willie Robertson
SPEARFISH Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I've caught many on Rattle traps in Canada, but never fished for them here.
Palawman30 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 My brother lives in Clearfield county PA and fishes lake pymatuning in the northwest corner frequently for walleyes. He also fishes Curwenville Dam spillway for eyes... In the lake he does very well on a basic worm harness spinner. In the spillway he fishes small rapalas and jigs. This time of year hes fishing the spillway mostly and using minnows PredaTorch.com Hot Estrous Doe and Other Deer Scent, Night Predator Lights
sussexcohunter Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 In canada we would catch them on the harness rigs trolling or bottom jigging....would like to catch one in jersey...either swartswood or hopatcong...
DBuck Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Try a bottom bouncer with a worm harness baited with a worm or minnow.
