Here is a highlight clip of my hunt from last night. I got in late due to work. But while getting in my stand at 5:30pm I jumped a group of 4 deer. They sat there and looked at me at 30 yards then walked off. Surprisingly they didnt blow my cover. But 5 minutes later I already started seeing deer. sorry I didn't really do a "live hunt" but I was to busy using my camera. But hope you enjoy the video! Check out that half rack 8 pointer. I have 3 bucks on camera with only one side. Should I manage them before there genetics cause a problem? I have a couple nice bucks on camera in this area as well but none of them showed there face last night.

You don't know for sure if it was genetics or some other influence causing one side to grow, unless of course you've been seeing the same three different deer over the years with one rack.  If you do harvest one, you can check to see if there was a growth issue or if there was some environmental issue that damaged that side.  Even then it would be tough to attribute it to genetics.

Sapere aude.

Audeamus.

When you cannot measure, your knowledge is meager and unsatisfactory.

Nice footage, I like it when the deer are "playful".

Like HH said, the one antler thing might have nothing to do with genetics.  Bucks disperse from their mother's home range as yearlings so the likelihood that those 3 bucks are genetically linked is very slim.

sat this spot last night and saw only one doe. It is crazy how many factors really go into seeing deer. The weather, your scent, your walk into the stand, etc. Plus 30 minutes before dark some guy came cruising down the side of the field on his quad. Hopefully back at it again tonight!
