How about developing an easy mobile interface to do a mobile live hunt?  Have a drop-down for species as in deer (and weapon), bear (and weapon), turkey (and weapon), waterfowl, small game, and predators. Also give it it's own separate category so those that wish to follow along can click and view?  Ease of posting pictures of the live hunt in action would be a must.

Are you asking someone to develop a mobile app to post live hunts?  Like to these forms to some other place?  Or a direct live stream from the mobile device to other folks in Internetland?

Sapere aude.

Audeamus.

When you cannot measure, your knowledge is meager and unsatisfactory.

Just a separate category on here only - not "streaming".     Instead of 9/10 "Check-in", each hunter will post their own hunt... (Date, Location species weapon, conditions). It can be as simple as an opening statement "got in tree 5:45 am, wind is calm, 52 degrees - wish me luck".  Others can interact and post as well.  6:30 AM "see several tails in the distance - I think I got winded..."  7:15 AM - just had a slammer nearly in range, he followed the does",  8:05 AM - "Just grunted that big buck in, shot him and watched him drop".

Intermingled with a few pics from the stand, and ultimately the money shot.

You thinking like a Live Hunts Report forum?  That's easy to do.

Creating a separate mobile app, and the persistence of the information and potentially cross-posting/linking it to the forum or site is another beast.  Very cool idea though!

Ultimately, come next year (after hunting season), this forum will have to be upgraded since this version is going out of support in April 2017...which means no security patches moving forward.  That's a no go, so as much as I know users hate upgrades, this one will be necessary to keep things secure.  At that point, I'll be assessing the new features of the upgraded software and looking for ways to leverage it and improve the site!

Yeah, that. :lookaround:

ease of access is key -  remember it's during an actual "hunt" so less keystrokes the better. That's why I was thinking offering drop downs or some sort of selection list for species/weapon might be good.  Then the "readers" could filter on "all live hunts" or just focus on bow hunts for deer. The guy that only waterfowl hunts, could filter on just those, etc. Ease of attaching a picture is best too. I know from using BOWSITE.COM mobile live hunts, they are always better with pictures posted.  If this ends up being popular, could add "Live Fishing" too...Same concept.  Again key feature of all this is "it's happening now -live", and all reported "live".   If someone wants to just post a report "post hunt" then that would go back into the existing forums as applicable.

I will add, that it would be un-courteous to start a live hunt and not provide an ending, even if it's "Hunt over - didn't see sh#t"

Man, bowsite is still around?  I just went there and tried out the Live Hunt they have.  I think that site is on some pretty old software...I see what they did.  Just looks like a simplified form entry and forum post.  It's probably a heck of a lot easier to use Tapatalk.  I'll have to look at the features in the version and what I can use to create something similar and easy from mobile.  I know the mobile skins for this version have been pretty crappy, so I made the site entirely responsive, but it takes a lot of scrolling and expanding with finger gestures to get where you want to be.
