Made the 225 mile round trip after work today to set my first bear bait out. Put out a jet sled full,50lbs corn,80 plus pounds of bagels and donuts plus table scraps from the passed month or two. Had a lot of sign around from bears. I didn't do the journey to my far spot. I did find a small shed antler in between about 10 piles of bear crap. Its small and i for got to take a pice of it.was 2 years old and chewed up bad

  i think you got too much time on your hands, looks like a christmas tree

Maybe a little but not enough to go over the mountain that we went to last year. See what happens next week....you ready to do it again in 90 degrees....lol

I admire your dedication - I live with them, sort of despise them and really not all that motivated to hunt them although I will probably do it with the bow. I don't know why I just can't get jazzed over a bear, but it is what it is. Maybe this bow season will change my mind.

Good luck - you already earned it based on the miles alone!

Yeah when you live with them and see them often there is no thrill in taken one. Don't have way down here often (once in awhile but no season here). I have one I shot years ago with the bow in Canada but would like to have one from the home state.

225 miles, you're a better man than I am.  But like Jack, I'm surrounded by them and have no interest in hunting them.  But I wouldn't mind the rest of you shooting a crap load of them.  Best of luck!!

I will be hunting bear Saturday morning in NY state with my nephew in a spot I got my first bear in 1994. It's a travel route between both states and we have to just hope one travels bye no baiting in NY. The stand location is ideal it's right where hemlocks meet a swamp we are on the ridge where the two come together watching the valley below. From hunting there most times the bears cruise that valley he's going to take his bow.
