bruiserbucksoutdoors Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I am trying to get into filming my hunts. Or actually having my friends or girlfriend film my hunts. Would love to hear tips on what equipment to purchase. I have a dslr that is pretty nice. There is a hunting package for it on campbell cameras website. I was thinking of purchasing it. Does anyone film with a dslr? I was possibly even going to try and film myself. Any information on purchasing a setup to film hunts or tips on filming hunts would greatly be appreciated. Stevo Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I was filmed 2 years ago on a Wounded Warriors Turkey Hunt. Most of the filming occurred AFTER the shot. You will need to purchase some Editing Software. Also be careful of the mic. It can be damaged easily going through brush. I don't know what Camera they used but it wasn't real small. It was large enough that they could sit behind it and drape a Camo net over it to be concealed. bruiserbucksoutdoors 1 Sent from my flip phone with the big buttons so I can see them
Buck154 Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 What ever camera you have or get make sure it has a manual focus, a must with braches or leaves before the deer. Don't zoom in too much unless using multiple cameras or you will lose the deer to quick from camera view. bruiserbucksoutdoors 1

Bubblehead Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Please no one shame me for giving this advice but... if he isn't a member here go over to "the other site" and pm fieldarcher. He seems to be quite proficient at self filming if that's the route you chose. If not there are several guys here that film a bunch and might be willing to give you some pointers. Shootstraight's name comes to mind first. Also Bell from the other site had a nice camera for sale not too long ago. Not sure if it's still available Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk bruiserbucksoutdoors 1

LPJR Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) It is the site that cannot be named. Haha! Reminds me of the movie "The Village" and the "people we don't speak of" Edited August 31, 2016 by LPJR
LPJR Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I used an Olympus HD camera to film a friend's bow hunt that came out crystal clear. The camera is the waterproof "tough" model & is less than $150 on Amazon............. bruiserbucksoutdoors 1
ub1243 Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 i film with a DSLR. i would say, start with a video camera with a LANC and get your feet wet. then go to a DSLR. you need a good arm, good head, and lenses. the expense climbs quick. like GG said, talk with Tom and The Life. call and talk to Campbell's, Kyle will help you out. if you already have a DSLR body, and that is the way you want to go, you need some lenses. i have a 70-200 2.8, and a 14mm 3.1T these are my main lenses for solo filming. i bring a 50mm 1.8 and a 30mm macro to add some changes to my filming. i still go to my Vixia when in the truck solo interviews driving. it is on a tripod. but only after the clocks change. when i have the time, it is DSLR for interviews also. bruiserbucksoutdoors 1 United Bowhunters of New Jersey New Jersey Fur Harvester New Jersey Trappers Association National Trappers Association
bruiserbucksoutdoors Posted September 2, 2016 Author Posted September 2, 2016 About to purchase the R70 hunting package on campbell's website. It cost $750.00. I think that will do the job for now. I have a dslr and a go pro that I can probably get different angles with. The dslr is my girlfriends so I don't want to dump a bunch of money on lenses on a camera that doesn't belong to me. Anyone use this R70 camcorder? I am planning on purchasing tonight! Reviews or opinions on the R70 would be great! Thank you! Follow Us On Instagram @bruiserbucksoutdoors
