Porcupines

I see lots of porcupines up along the Appalachian trail, in the winter they are easy to spot and I can usually spot 2 a day, here is a video of one from last winter and a couple pictures, enjoy!

I've never seen one in NJ.  I've seen a few in PA. Mind you I'm not complaining with my 3 dogs, just saying..

Yes, they make that clucking noise when you get close , I don't know if it means there agitated or that's just what porcupines do, they move very slow and are not aggressive!

They are a real treat to release as incidental catches. Have released more than I can remember. They get into alot of my bobcat and coyote sets.

Every place I have caught porcupines I have caught fishers. Fishers prey on them and they are a preferred food source for them. Every fisher I have caught has had quills embedded in their face.
