Saddle River deer problem referendum is set

To shoot or not to shoot is the question.

On the November 2016 general election ballot the big question will be asked, "Do you want a deer management program using lethal methods?

The residents don't want hunters in Saddle River and they don't want to pay for any cull program.

Years ago when I was the Cranford Tree advisory Board chairman, a woman on the board made the claim that deer were increasing in large numbers and something had to be done....she had based her observation on seeing plant damage by deer and seeing dead deer hit by cars.....I said a study would have to be done to determine if indeed they were over populating....this was scoffed at and never happened.....anyway science and fact dont lie....mere observations are just that , observations.....present the facts that hunting can control the population and that it is the easiest and most economical way to do it......
