Which Hunting Season Do You Think Will Keep A New Hunter Involved For Years To Come?

   Some here already know my answer.

  But what say you?

 Which Hunting Season Will excite that new Hunter regardless of their age and hold them for many years to Come?

Small game or waterfowl .

lots of anticipation without all the boredom that hunting big game can have .

Without a doubt small game . much more exciting , you are moving , and you can talk. Plus its much more fun and not boring like in deer hunting.

  I think Spring Turkey Hunting. Hearing that GOBBLLLEEEE just Hooks some for Life- yours truly included.

Rabbit hunting with dogs. Don’t have to get up at crack of dawn, you can walk, talk, and don’t have to be silent and watching the dogs is just fun to see. My son loved it but he couldn’t sit still and quiet in a deer stand for anything.

Definitely small game and waterfowl.  Hunting squirrel is still my favorite.

My boys grew up hunting all of NJ’s deer seasons (bow, muzzy, shotgun). They also turkey hunted and hunted waterfowl. They would hunt waterfowl over anything else. They enjoy the social aspect of waterfowl hunting.

In NJ ... WMA pheasant hunting on non-stocking days with a good dog. Walking, talking ... meet some nice people on those days, too.

Dove hunting.  I know new jersey does not have a season. Lots of shooting and cutting up.

Statistically speaking, the season/hunting type doesn’t matter..it’s how many times over an initial season a new hunter gets out if they’re a hunter into adulthood..and w youth 10-12 years old significantly have higher retention rates than those who get in at say 15-16.

For someone that has never experienced the woods waterfowl small game something along those lines. for someone that’s been around hunting just has never done it a quality spring turkey hunt or a early fall bow hunt will hook them it’s truly on person depending. I have a kid that went out pheasant and small game and he hated it but when he went out deer hunting fell in love in it. every one’s diffrent

I used to dove hunt in PA when I was a kid and it was a blast.
