Went out for a last day afternoon sit, which started off on a bad note because I left my field pack at home, which of course contained my slugs and my knife. Luckily I was able to borrow my buddies gun and a knife so I still got out as planned. I saw some moving up across the mountain early on but nothing close. A little after 5, about 4 deer started working slowly down the mountain. The mature ones hung up, but two smaller ones came down within range. The first one stood behind a tree for 10 minutes, showing me only its nose as my finger tips froze. It finally turned and left without giving me a shot. Then, the second one came down behind that same tree, but then made the mistake of stepping out. I finally was able to get the scope on it, and threaded the lightfield between the trees and through it's heart. Dropped in its tracks, and I was thrilled to get my 2nd deer of the year on the last day!

Congratulations, sometimes days that start off bad end really good. I too was out for the last day of gun season but didn't have any opportunites to close any deals.
