What's with the daytime raccoons ?

Recommended Posts

Been getting a decent number of pictures of raccoons out in the daytime on my Mineral Magnet sites which also have a Killer Kube on them.  Also had 2 raccoon cubs walk across my driveway and start climbing a tree at 10:30 in the morning.  They all appear to be healthy.  What gives?

Very common  coons are out in the daylight in the summer a lot.  Most of the time if you see a coon eating or drinking during the daylight hours their dens are close by. I get calls all the time with folks concerned with coons eating in the pet food bowl during the daylight hours.  A lot of times it is sows that have pups near by and nursing.  she needs a lot of energy LOL  also while some coons have young nursing pups this time of year many are 3 months old now and she will be teaching them the ways of the world feeders and mineral sites are easy food source.  If a coon or skunk during daylight is walking in circles, acting drunk or chasing someone then there may be a problem LOL eating and drinking nothing wrong

Thanks gentlemen.  I've never maintained any of my deer spots this early in the past, so although I didn't think they had rabies, I was curious as to what was up with them roaming around in the middle of the day.
