NJDFW Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 6/20/16 - Notice of Rule Adoption: Amendments to 2016-2017 Fish Code -- Delivered by Feed43 service View the full article
Bucksnbows Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 What most don't know is that we have been freshwater fishing all year without any legal rules in place. Trenton held up this last regulations change by more than 6 months. Legally, you could fish without a license, keep hundreds of fish, use most any gear you wanted and not be prosecuted. The Fish Committee of the Fish & Game Council is now working on the '18/'19 Fish Code so Trenton has no excuses next time..... https://www.troutscapes.com/ https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board

Good thing you held onto that info untl after the spring stocking or it could have been a slaughter.
BowhunterNJ Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I thought the existing game code and laws stayed in effect until the new ones were adopted, not that all laws and regs just ended? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Not according to the F&G Council members I know well. If I recall correctly, the last time this happened, everything cleared Trenton by mid January and not all the way into June. Embarrassing for the Governor's office and his legal staff who are the ones that keep dragging their feet. https://www.troutscapes.com/ https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board

Embarrassing for the Governor's office and his legal staff who are the ones that keep dragging their feet. Looks like you are correct! I was thinking of the Marine regs, which have a special Note on the NJDFW website. FISHING REGULATIONS - MARINE NOTE: Many marine species are managed on a coast-wide basis with seasons and limits required by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission. Those regulations must then be approved by our state's Marine Fisheries Council. The Council usually addresses these issues at their March meeting with the management measures becoming effective in mid- to late April or early May. The Marine Digest is published in May. Regulations remain in effect until changed. For information on saltwater regulations changes, check this page and our homepage for news releases, subscribe to the NJ Marine Fishing E-mail List for automatic notification, or call the "listen-only" line at 609-292-2083. Marine Fisheries staff can be contacted at 609-748-2020. Bucksnbows 1

You mean I could have been drift netting and gill netting for trout on opening day? I gotta' pay more attention next time. Sapere aude. Audeamus. When you cannot measure, your knowledge is meager and unsatisfactory.
