Friends of mine (a husband and wife) recently moved. The wife was telling me what she's been seeing for weeks out her back window of the new home "These turkeys are splashing dirt all over themselves. I hope they aren't nesting." :D

"What's the address to your new house again?", I ask her... Oh, and.. "pictures, please.";)

She sends me a picture....oO(WOW! Look at those Toms!)

She is a little nervous for some reason having a flock of turkeys dusting themselves 20 feet behind her back door. After scouting over there today, I find out they have over 25 acres of legally huntable woods right behind their house. The turkeys are probably roosting in there somewhere. I did bump those Toms when I was over there; they had some girls with them.

I think I have a new South Jersey turkey spot for next month

Sounds like a good spot to me.  I wouldnt worry about what anyone else says.  It is never that easy.  Sometimes turkey hunting in the big woods is easy and most of the times it is not.  I would take the gift of a great spot and hunt it.  They always seem easy to kill until you put a shotgun and bow in your hand and try to kill one.

AAAAnnnd of course, the ONE time I walk in the woods without my permethrin-sprayed clothes, the ONE time I completely forget all about it and don't check myself or change clothes when I get home... I get a tick bite!! Found it attached in the middle of the night last night.

Reminder to everyone - spray your clothes!! The bastards are out and about.

(definitely a deer tick, but I think I got it in time -- about 14 hours and it wasn't engorged... gonna see if the dr. will give me a single dose of antibios today, but I probably don't need it).

No chance you need it. I use 24 hours as my cutoff, but my doctor says 48 hours, so I lie and tell him 48+ so he gets me on doxy.  But that has been years since my last tick bite.
Good luck with the new spot, mazz

Take it anyway. Not worth the risk. I took it after digging this one out myself

They may be in the other back yards surrounding that 25 open acres with the rest of the neighborhood hunting there to.
