Does GunBroker charge sales tax on firearms shipped into NJ from another state?

Whoa, Dude!

Really hit a sore spot with Gunbroker!

They turned into a real scumbag self-centered money grubbing site!

YUP, they charge tax on ALL purchases, which isn't right at all.

If it is a person to person sale, i.e., maybe you're selling me a die or maybe some brass or a scope, then there shouldn't be sales tax! If I come to your house and buy a shovel or wheelbarrow or broom from you, there is NO sales tax. So where is that “sales tax” that Gunbroker is charging (on a personal sale) going? I understand that if you're buying from a commercial shop, store or business, then sales tax should be collected, but not on a private sale. Thank Gov. NOEM for the sales tax BS because she was instrumental in getting the sales tax on internet purchases. Once upon a time, Gunbroker did not charge tax plus shipping charges were more reasonable AND some places didn't charge for credit card purchases. Not so now. It was pretty decent then and worthwhile. Not so much now.

Be careful and do the math! The rats on Gunbroker not only charge an exorbitant fee to the seller but also charge the buyer a fee also, which a lot of people don't realize. Furthermore, some of the sellers not only charge for credit card use (3% or 4%), but will also slap an automatic charge of 1%, 2% or 3% insurance on the sale too. Read the fine print. Finally, some of their charges for shipping are positively ridiculous.

How can one guy ship for $24 and another guy ship the same thing and charge $75?

Best way to figure your purchase is multiply the price by 1.06 then add shipping cost then (I think 1 or 2 %) for Gunbroker and your transfer fee too (for a firearm) AND the cost of a USPS money order, which some places will ONLY take or the 3 or4 % credit card charge. Kinda gets cost prohibitive. Used to be a good deal. Not so much anymore.

Bottom line? Gunbroker sucks, and they ain't for nobody but themselves! But what else do you have?

Yup!  I’ve bought a lot of guns off Gunbroker, not anymore!  Try  gunsinternational.com, no tax!

A lot of gun shops will automatically list the nicer firearms that come in on GunBroker. And once they are listed, they are not available for purchase to "Walk in" customers.

I use Primary Arms or MidwayUSA.

Yes, I use Midway USA for my "New" purchases.

That is the best thing about the internet....BEST prices can be found online for new guns. Often times they are free shipping & tax free. Search by sku #, model #, or manufacturer #.

No chance you can buy here in NJ compared to online....

On a positive note, a lot of really good firearms show up online. Whether it's on GunBroker or Guns International.

I’ve used gunbroker gunsamerica and gunsinternational. All are excellent in my opinion I’ve also bought and sold scopes on gun broker. The old Japan made                         tasco”s sell like hot cakes for good money on there
