Dropped off 90lbs of venison on Tuesday. Picked up my order on Friday which returned just about 110lbs. Got pepper sticks, deer sticks, venison roll and kielbasa. Been separating and vacuum sealing since. Still have more to go tomorrow. Had some of the kielbasa for dinner tonight.

I live close to there. It’s a fantastic place.

Yes it is. I live an hour away from there but I hunt 3 minutes from it. Every year I make it a point to get a decent size order going.

What do they charge to do that if you don’t mind me asking? Looks great.

Sure isn’t cheap. But the quality is outstanding. They charge $8/lb for pepper sticks and $4/lb for deer sticks, kielbasa and venison roll. Total was $512 for 110lbs (after adding pork/seasoning).

They do a great job.  I took a deboned moose and caribou that I shot in New Foundland in 2022 there and it cost me $1300 and I left a $100 tip to the workers.  I got 10 boxes of sausages and other cuts of meat and it took me 3 days to vacuum seal it!  Has to buy 2 new freezers!

Before I met Frank, Alpine was my go to place.  In addition to all that, I'd bring a whole hind quarter for smoking - came out like a deli counter roast beef and I'd also bring 20-30 trout for smoking.  But that was long ago. Old burly German  guy owned it.

Looks awesome Bill.  Do you just save your venison from your deer and freeze it and then drop it off?  On the list for next year.  Thanks for sharing

I put aside some from every deer I cut. I normally bring about 20lbs for hot dogs and kielbasa.

They only do small batches. You need no less than 13 lb of meat for them to do anything for you.

Best hot dogs you can get

I'll be making the trip in the next couple weeks

Went there for years always great stuff. Not sure you get you own meat back and very expensive . So now Do my own .

Yeah. I get it. They need to be compensated for their time. But, it doesn't sit well with me that you supply the meat and it still comes back being more expensive than buying a similar product in the store or at a specialty shop. I love venison hot dogs. But, I can buy Thumanns or Boars Head hot dogs for less than a butcher charges to make them with MY meat.

I'm not criticizing those that do. I do some specialty stuff myself. Ham, breakfast sausage, "bacon", deli meat (like a olive loaf), and jerky. I enjoy doing it and it saves a ton of money.

Enjoy!

Every butcher that farms out to Nellos is charging $7 a pound for hotdogs. I bring my stuff well after season is over you need no less than 13 pounds for them to run a batch as they do small batches and hotdogs are $3.75 a pound, total different game than the crap Nellos makes
