With the rain soaked day and skipping snowboarding. Decided to start the tare down "The Rusty Dog"

Everything off now the fun, ordered a new front loop to get rid of the square bulky front leg of the DNA springer, a long with new exhaust that once frame is back together I will then figure how I want to run it then cut and weld them together, I'm thinking a 2 into 1 down the side above the crank case as my last set I built low and although cool to see sparks flying,  figure try to get a little more lean out of em.

Just pieced together so I could make new gussets to reenforce and  do they way should have originally. 1/4 in steel extended in the center and running down the main frame.

Once all stripped down and cleaned I weld back together.PXL_20250216_192302913.thumb.jpg.9c9a1459fafcdaef865332b5fbc7be50.jpg

I post up progress as it comes.

This is way cool!

I always wanted to build a rolling chassis when I was in my 20's but never even considered what you are doing.

That is really cool.

Have fun and good luck with the project. Will be following along.

You've bought from TC Bros before? Any problems? I ask because my son bought some part from them, can't remember which, when he was doing his bike in my garage. Their weld failed, my son had to reweld it. TC Bros was great and immediately refunded his money, but I wonder if you've had much experiences with them.

I've only ever bought one weld on tail from them for my first build.

Rode the bike for three years then saw it on Craigslist two years later

I've gotten all my electronics for three bikes from them with no problems.

For $90 I can't beat the exhaust kit. Enough bends to make just about any exhaust you want, as opposed to spending $400 for someone to custom make it for you.

I had a vision for the exhaust but my drop seat is way too low to run under the seat, so one maybe in front and behind front down tube, then mid motor down the side with possibly doing into one.

Not to sure about those welds.

I spent most of my money on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.

Which ones there are no new welds done yet. Bike still needs to be  completely stripped before I start welding. All welds as now are 12 years ago and hundreds of hours and thousands of miles.

No welds broke or let go, gusset wasn't far back enough and frame snapped right behind it.

Back in one piece. Slugs are set, letting relax, will open joints, heat again and weld frame to the slugs next.

Gussets will follow
