I was lucky to take two decent bucks this year. Both wide 8s between 20-21”,  the one I shot in permit bow season was a surprise buck that showed up on camera at night. So the next day I scrambled to hang a stand and hunt the afternoon. Ended up seeing a good amount of deer  including the new comer. He made a mistake and came into 20 yards.
Then the 2nd one I was after all season long I next saw till January 11 during muzzleloader season. He was very nocturnal. Good mature buck and loved the chase. So now have to wait and see what bucks have made it through and watch them grow.

so let’s see your season

It was about average in terms of number of deer but this is the first year I did not kill a deer with a firearm. All were kiled with a crossbow. I had no opportunities on a "decent" buck but I am not a "trophy" hunter so I am not disappointed.

Plenty of venison in the freezer to BBQ, make jerky, sausage, and a lot of other things.

Not great. Only took a doe opening day. Had a few shooters to chase but didn’t connect on any of them. Had one bust me when trying to draw on him and had him in range a couple more times with no clear shot. Another I was after that I really wanted stayed as a night owl a lot and only had him in day light a few times. He was on a smaller piece so I couldn’t move in closer to where I think he was. Could have killed him easily last year but let him go to give him one more year. It’s been a while since I’ve gone buckless, guess I was due.

I had my best season to date . I adopted a new outlook on things after a little health scare early last year , and came to a reality that any of our last deer seasons could have been the one that passed . I shot my best buck to date November 3 with my crossbow on my family’s property where I had put in a food plot with the help of tcook. Three weeks later I shot a young buck in Maine that followed me down a trail, on my last evening with my .270 browning . After that I doubled up with a buddy during muzzleloader on two does on Jan 1st . Few days later I killed a doe in my food plot with the slug gun . And I winded down my season killing a doe with a 12g slug gun I inherited a few years back and had not had the opportunity to kill a deer with . I filled my freezer , I filled my family’s freezer , and I shot deer for two friends who asked me for deer meat . Put a very good friend on two great bucks and a doe . Couldn’t have asked for  better year .

didnt get out much with the kids and baby.  if i did i just hiked state land with the slug gun.  my goal was to take a deer with the slug gun as my previous deer have always been buckshot or bow.  was able to take a small doe the last week of shotgun season, after missing one a few weeks before.  next year i should be able to hunt more hopefully.

Season for us was good. Kids filled the freezer. I hunted for peace and quiet. Also was able to get out to walk the rifle around in Pa for a few days, had not had time last few years.

I had a few real nice bucks on camera. But never connected. Whether it was wrong stand wrong time or just not being in the stand when they showed because I couldn't get my old ass out. I usually wait for winter bow to take a doe but I didn't get out much.

0 deer for me this season :(

This was my first year hunting in a saddle. Shot a deer with a compound out of it on only like my 2nd sit. Piney buck on public land. In that sense, very successful. But I was tagged out that fast. I was kinda disappointed after that. Didn't hunt deer much after .. didn't see anything during 6 day. Didn't bother getting my muzzy permit this year, was busy waterfowling. Next year I might concentrate more on deer. Saddle hunting is fun.
