20.2% increase for my JCP&L. I just learned about it. My central A/C eats it up. Bummer.

Inflation rate ticked up ... may stop the expected modest intertest rate cut. Concern about tariffs.

My family budget is squeezed .. was hoping for things to go the other way. lol

I heard the same thing today. We are still feeling and will be affected by the damage that was done from the former stolen presidency. It is going to take time to fix this unfortunately. Nothing can be done in 4 weeks to correct 4 plus years of outright abuse that we suffered. Hang in there. It will get better.

These increases are the results of biden's policy, but ultimately it was NJ'S governor signing off on it which he did this recently he could have blocked it but he's a liberal POS.  rate increase was granted last year as well

0. Cost of panels was about 16000.  I pay 150 a month I got 6 grand back in tax credits and get between 80 and 160 back a month from production.  Pm me ill get you more info

There is not much you can do about the increase but you can do a few things around the house to save energy.  Our bill got stupid high.  Things I have done to combat the issues.

1.  Re-caulked all windows

2.  Installed insulated outlet plates on all exterior walls

3.  Lutron lighting timers for exterior lights and a few interior lights.  The exterior lights go on at sunset and turn off at sunrise.

4.  Converted all lights to LED's

5.  Insulated the sill plates with hard foam and spray foam

6.  Checked all exterior door seals

7.  On all three of my HVAC systems that have thermostats we installed Honeywell D6 timers.

8.  If you ain't wearing a hoodie and wool socks no heat (this is an on going joke with my wife).

9.  We have a heated mattress pad that is split in half.  She like the heat at 71.  With her half of the pad on we can keep it at 67 at night with no arguments.

Still on my list:

1.  Replace basement windows

2. Insulate basement supply and return ductwork

3.  Insulate hot water piping

Buyers beware, read the fine print on the contract well and then read it again.  My mom had solar panels put on her house for free, two weeks after she passed we received a $16,000.00 lien on her home from the solar company:grrr:

Insulate the attic better also. The solar agreement also may have to be transferred to new owners if you sell the home.  They aren’t for everyone. I think they look trashy on homes.  Ours has 39 panels and we took over the previous owners agreement. (Which they signed up for a lease) no tax credits.  I have mixed feelings. Some contracts are 20 years to pay off. Then what, new panels in theory should be way more efficient. Remove and reinstall for new roof you have to start weighing putting old panels on or buying newer efficient ones.  I can say though Tesla has great customer service for solar panels.

My agreement has replacement in contract.  If say a panel falls below 90 percent at 3 years they come out and replace.  Mine were put on the back of my house I can't see them at all except if I'm by my shed.

I’ll add t00 if you get solar put on make sure they put the wire fencing around your panels and your roof to prevent squirrels from getting under the panels but mainly leaves. A bunch of wet leaves stuck under the panel is horrible for your roof.

Few companies came to my home summer 2024, they said at first zero down, they keep the tax credit which didn't sit well with me, plus some said even zero down doesn't include all equipment needed, these companies are firms i see on TV, in my neighborhood so they aren't fly by night companies.

Just makes me think it's scam at times or certain situations

There's a big difference in leasing and purchasing.  Depending on situation leasing could be the way to go.
