It’s unfortunate but it’s nj.  I know zone 5 is close to your heart and it is hit hard especially on state land where I hunt. Then you got the farmers that put a hurting on them and i get their side.  Plus we learned on a post here that farmers can get permits to whack deer on state land year round.  It’s hard with liberal bag limits and I don’t care what anyone says you know lots of small bucks get killed on drives all permit shotgun.  I hunt for meat so it doesn’t matter to me but I do agree we don’t need several buck tags

Nj fgw doesn’t care about big bucks.   They want the deer removed.   No matter how much we fight or whine.  It is what it is. Because of where we live

Yup. They want em gone. They should give us firearm Sundays to hunt so we can help w their goal!!  Lol

Does anybody even shoot 6 bucks a year? I feel like the amount of people that actually do that are balanced out by the majority that shoot 1 or 2 a year

Or none like myself haha

Most in NJ don't fill a 3rd buck tag to begin with, or even one if hunting public.  More buck tags = more money.

Doubt you'll find the genetics here to produce a deer that size.  Many old bucks won't reach B&C or even P&Y in areas.

Cutting back on killing doe would be a bigger benefit to produce more bucks.  Shortening seasons, too.

Save up to go to Alberta.

I dont agree with all the buck tags allowed in NJ but I never thought that was the problem.  It seems these ridiculously long “antlerless”extended seasons with liberal bag limits puts way more of a hurtin on our deer herd and its long term affect on bucks

Even if lots of does aren’t shot , the constant pressure without breaks in between entirely changes their normal patterns .

way too much stress on them for  6 months .

IMO while it allows more days afield it lowered the quality of the hunts seeing less game .

deer seasons were much better when they were shorter , and more hunters were in the woods on the same days

Lots of guys shooting 1 or 2 bucks may have not have even shot those with limited tags .

MANY guys shooting a deer the last days of a season they would pass earlier instead of eating a tag .

knowing the have another tag available for the next season .

I agree 100% me being one of those guys I don’t like to admit it but it’s mostly because of all the  tags and if I don’t kill it someone else will I was never like this but I’ve lowered my standards. I would love to see one archery buck and one gun buck and that’s that better yet add point restrictions
