Winter Bow or Permit Shotgun

This weekend should be a good weekend since a storm is brewing for Sunday night.

I can't decide between going down to z15 with the shotgun and the climber (i never hunt there i only have permits because we were supposed to go deer driving and the group, we go with everyone is busy and has freezers filled)

Was thinking of going up for winter bow to Black River but idk I'm just torn. Chester is a little closer to my house too.

Has anyone had success this year at balck river?

Why not 15 on Saturday and Chester on Sunday

Its just one or the other. Sunday is tough for me, 

Also pregnant wife isn't happy with all the hunting and being left alone with the 2 years old  

Just trying to get some influence on my options and hope i choose right ......... feel like its a no brainer to go to z15 with the shotgun but just i'm unfamiliar with areas so. I like at least scouting an area prior to being there.

Take the gun on a walk.  Look for sign.   Maybe kick one up and get a shot.   Scout and hunt at the same time

If not familiar with area then you will have a better chance with the gun.

I agree with fab and greybeard. Do a nice slow scout with the gun in the morning. If ya feel like you found a hot spot come back to it with the climber for the afternoon hunt after getting some grub. Good luck

Was gunna throw some acorn rage wherever near wherever i sat.......tempting either way but at least the shotgun gives me the best opportunity versus the bow.

I have hunted Black River. Gets pressure from the bird hunters. I stopped hunting Black River. Moved on. Try the other  area is what I would do.

The deer are there.  Burd hunters just change their bedding and movements.

The deer are long gone pushed off into the mansions. One year though went in blind on 6 day with my bro in law for his first hunt. We sat 20 yards apart by the power Lines and doubled up. So never know. But he got spoiled from that hunt lol

I hunt colliers mills wich is very packed with bird hunters and kill deer during bird season.  Find what the deer do and you will still see them.

z14 it is tomorrow. 

Im sure i'll see some deer drives - definitely wearing the hunter orange in the climber for sure
