Gunner1030 Posted January 8 Posted January 8 (edited) I've been running Reveal cams for 4 years now. I have some of the 2.0 Gen 2 and 3.0 pro. First off, I'm my opinion, the cams could b A LOT better for the money. On multiple cams I have water get inside the battery compartment. The battery packs never charge more than 90%. However, what frustrates me the most is, I was talking to a buddy who uses the 3.0 pro and he was saying how he has an old Moultrie cam up next to the 3.0 pro and the 3.0 pro takes less pics of deer then the Moultrie, especially when the battery is under 40%. Naturally, this spiked my curiosity so I put one of my old browning cams up on the same tree as my 3.0 pro and ill be damned, he was right. Before you all say the intensity was set different on my tactacam, it was set too high so thats why it missed pics. Nope, i lowered it all the way down to 2 so i was sure i got everything that moved. I got leaves and branches blowing but missed pics of deer! Weird, right. I know! I pulled the card from my browning and put it in my lap top and compared side by side with my pro 3.0. The 3.0 took 34 less pics of deer than the browning. What gets me the most is the browning had pics of deer right in front of the cam that the pro 3.0 never even picked up! Example, a doe came in at 3:44am, 5 yards in front of cams, browning cams had it, tactacam didn't! So, my question to all here is 1) had any one else noticed this or even tested this? 2) Does anyone else have the same problem with battery packs not charging more than 90%? 3) Does anyone else get water inside their battery compartment? 4) Is everyone happy with their cams? Now, ive contacted cust support about the batteries not charging more than 90%. They asked what type out outlets i am using to charge them. I explained i have usb outlets on my kitchen counter in the wall, with my regular outlets. So I charge my batteries directly into the wall socket. They said that shouldn't be the problem and asked if I would like to return the batteries which I did. I sent back 2 batteries, got 2 news ones and have the same issue. I know i am not the only one as all my buds have the same issue with batteries. So, let me know if u guys have any of the issues mentioned above and if you ate happy with the cams from Reveal. In my opinion, they r over priced for their quality n performance! Edited January 8 by Gunner1030 Buckmaster3405 1
hammer4reel Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Reveal cameras are great at catching crossing animals . But I have seen them miss a lot of pics when game comes straight at them slowly . picture quality sent to the App on the 2.0 went way down when the 3 cam out . Almost to the point of being blurred when zooming in on the pictures , I believe that was to hype up the new camera as those pics are super clear in the app. few weeks ago the resolution went back up on those cams and they are now pretty clear again . what I have seen is battery life on my solar panels as well as my 2.0 cameras has gone down a lot . 2 cameras I’m actually recharging panels , and replacing batteries every 2 weeks (at about 40 percent ). And they also seem to drop to the 90 percent level within a day of being out I am finding the Spypoint flex 36 cameras to be much better . They catch stuff as far as 60 yards away .picture quality is pretty good . Those camera went through batteries pretty quick , but their rechargeable packs seem to have pretty good battery life . The flex also has way better reception in bad areas . where reveals and Spypoint micro only get 25% signal the flex get 50% or better . battery life on reveals in spots they are on instant send of course drains quicker because of repeated connection , but If sent to send twice a day you are limited in pictures sent , which is ridiculous Gunner1030 1
BHC Posted January 8 Posted January 8 When you compared the two cameras side by side, was the other a cell camera, or was it a traditional camera? charging the batteries what wire are you using to charge? As far as the water intrusion, call Tactacam they very well fix the seal, and or replace the camera. I have many rechargeable batteries made by Tactacam got them on clearance sale, and I also purchased six aftermarket ones off Temu , they work and for 1/2 price worth it for me I love the Tactacams, which I have been using for many years after trying/testing out many brands, and models. I purchased the 3.0 Pro when it first came out and it worked great but the power button wouldn't work to turn on/off, pull the battery out/in and it turned on/off, called them they went through the BS steps and it was determined a replace would be sent, did the paperwork and within a week a new 3.0 Pro was delivered
Outandabout90 Posted January 8 Posted January 8 I have 22 reveal cameras. I have some non cell cams that work better but I wouldn't trade that for the convenience factor. Picture quality seems to have gone down with each version. The originals worked well and sent better pictures to the app likely due to less network traffic. I've had several go under water and start taking pictures as soon as the water levels receded. The few issued I've had customer service has always been very helpful. Gunner1030 1
Tarhunt Posted January 8 Posted January 8 (edited) I purposely switched last year from Spypoint to Reveal 3.0 and I'm disappointed in them. Everyone hyped them up. I get water in the battery compartment and the night photos are marginal at best. Edited January 8 by Tarhunt Gunner1030 1 "The Nation Which Forgets Its Defenders, Will Itself Be Forgotten".
Turkeyslayer Posted January 8 Posted January 8 There’s a few people on here that love tactacam to a point that they see no wrong personally I use to love them but once I started trying other cameras i’ll never go back. Moultrie is my favorite the battery’s don’t last as long but they pick up most pictures. I found tactacams have a real hard time picking up pictures that come from the side or if something is slowly grazing coming straight on it seems those are its biggest weakness. 3Blade 1

Which Moultrie do you have? I was looking into switching and tried the Moultrie Edge. I wasn't impressed enough to want to make a big switch.

Deerslayer21 Posted January 8 Posted January 8 I have several and most of them get water in the battery compartment.. I did buy a new 3.0 this year and it hasnt had the water problems YET !!!! I would say they do have great customer service and they will take back whatever doesnt work and send you new one at either a deep discount or for free.. They can remote into your cameras and basically fix a slew of issues you are having.. So basically I am a little disappointed in their cameras but at the same time Im too stubborn and cheap to switch lol. Gunner1030 1

If that doesn’t work you should just give it to me . 😂 Tarhunt 1
FeniQuest217 Posted January 8 Posted January 8 (edited) haven't had any issues when switching to Tactacam reveals. i havent tried the new one yet. I don't get the price comment - hunting gear is expensive - for $100 i think you get a solid camera. ANd none of them are perfect no matter how many of them post about it. I think Moultrie's are awesome but their plan seems to be pretty costly, even more than tactacams I had more issues with Spypoint than i cared for, but they have the best plan in comparison to the others. But definitely keep toggling with settings. I haven't had a water issue at all and mine are up in sussex Edited January 8 by FeniQuest217 updating
