FishNHard Posted January 5 Posted January 5 I plan on putting a Minnkota terrova on my 16ft boat this season and the question i have is about battery's , i plan on going with lithium and was wondering since the TM is a 24v motor do you think its better with 1 24v battery or going with 2 12v battery's
mike033089 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 (edited) Interested as well. Always used 2 12s but need to buy new batteries this year. Boats sat for years since having a few young kids lol Edited January 6 by mike033089
Bonefreak Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I have always used 2 12’s in my bassboat. One of them will be at least 1 year newer than the other. I replace batteries every 1-2 years. I can also take one battery out and use it with my small Jon boat on smaller motor. I have also taken a battery to run an bubbler for my minnows. So its nice having access to numerous 12 v batteries
hammer4reel Posted January 6 Posted January 6 If you have the room a 24 . will be a little lighter than 2 12 of the same amp hour .

One of my batteries is from 2018…it runs a bubbler for days in my minnow tank.

Big difference using an old battery for 12 volt application , but if doing 24 or 36 you want those batteries to be exactly the same . Bonefreak 1

I can appreciate that. But I ran a new 2023 12v battery and a 2021 12v battery in a 24 v trolling motor system for 8 hr bass tournaments about twice a month last season and always had plenty of juice at the end of each tournament ….in the event I had no juice …(windy conditions/using spot lock a lot) …I have a backup 24v system I can plug into.
