mazzgolf Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Had this happened to me twice in a row during the goose hunt this morning and it isn't the first hunt this has happened. Pretty sure this gun is still under warranty so I'm gonna ask them about this and I'm sure they will say send it in. But curious what you think causes this? I have no idea. I put more details in the description of the video - it's this: === This has been happening to me several times this season. This video was taken after it happened to me a second time in a row. I fire the first round that is in the chamber. The empty hull ejects. Then the second round is fed out of the magazine, but then immediately following it the third shell is fed out of the magazine and jams both shells in the receiver. Once this happens, the bolt gets stuck in the rearward position and the shells are jammed in the receiver so tight that I cannot take out the shells. I have to remove the magazine cap and begin removing the barrel to get the shells loose enough to either (a) remove the first shell or (b) try to push the second shell back into the magazine. Either way, I need to get that first shell to fall out of the ejection port and the preceding procedure is the only way I can do it. I cannot fix this failure without taking off the magazine cap and removing the barrel, it is that bad of a jam.
nmc02 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 If they load the same as a benelli, supposed to load from magazine not chamber.
JimC1965 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 It is likely your fingers are coming in contact with the barrel, slowing the barrel down when returning from the recoil position. Franchi auto works off the force of the fired shell to push the bolt back. Then when the shot leaves the barrel that pushes the barrel back into the receiver and activating the mag release allowing the shell to be loaded. If your fingers slow the movement of the barrel 2 shell have the opportunity to exit the mag and jam the weapon.
mazzgolf Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 With my Franchi Affinity 3.5, the barrel doesn't move. The bolt sits on a long bar that sits on a spring that is around the magazine. When the round fires, the force moves the bolt rearward (along with that long bar it sits on) which causes the spring that is around the magazine to compress. The spring de-compresses moving the bolt forward again (at the same time, all the magic is happening in the receiver and trigger group to load the next round in the chamber). I'm thinking @vdep217 might have the right idea - there might be something with that little clip that holds the shells in the magazine.
