Any experience with NY Thruway camera ticket?

Anyone have any experience with the New York State Thruway speed camera tickets? They mailed me a ticket for speeding but my brother was using my truck.  Any way to fight this ticket?

Nope. It doesn’t matter who the driver is. I recall seeing something about this being tested in the courts and upheld. You can certainly try, but you will likely not win.

I don't believe they carry any points with them as there is no proof of the driver. They are tickets given to the registered owner regardless of who is driving. It's a money grab and nothing more.

It's a Civil Penalty fine, nothing goes to your driving record. Have him pay it and be done with it

Nope. Another Hochul tax. They are a money maker so they are putting cameras everywhere.

I thought New Jersey wasn’t giving camera ticket info out to other states, has this changed?

That's literally criminal. They threaten to withhold registration if you don't pay, even if you were not speeding. By the letter and spirit of the law, I did nothing wrong, and they are committing extortion.

Tell it to the judge. I only get to enforce the rules of this site, not the roads.

Same as most states.  I got a mailed “warning” for speeding through a construction zone in PA. Next time they send the actual ticket.

Staten Island alone has close to 800 speeding cameras installed. Plus they have red light and bus lane cameras.

Small village NY tickets are the worse. It cost me over $1000.00 on my way back from Oneita last year.

True but it’s not just NY.  I received a fine in the mail for making an illegal left turn in DC.  Cameras picked up my car and license plate.  There were absolutely no signs posted.  Wasn’t going back to DC to fight it in court.

Double yellow line?  I ask because it is technically illegal to make a left across double yellow line
