smittty Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Do any of you remove your string and cables during the off-season to prolong the string and cables life. I was thinking about doing this it gets expensive replacing every year. This way maybe I could go every two years

I haven't replaced strings every year either. If the string falls between the dimples on the cams, there is no reason to replace unless damaged.

Don’t believe that I’ve had them break with the timing marks perfect an only 20 or so shots on new cables that’s why I got away from factory cables most string and cable manufacturers will tell you on ravens like the 10x replace yearly. And when you break a cable you’ll need cams cam bearings and limbs. I’m a fast learner. There are many known issues with them breaking in the shipping boxes and in cases while not in use. koz 1

Then you've answered your own question. I'm pretty confident since I have a 2018 R15 and two newer R29x. I only use Ravin bolts and nocks. I use Ravin serving fluid religiously and even own my own Ravin press. Brother has the R10. I won't use aftermarket strings on the 29s until the warranty is up. MGHunter66 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 I wouldn’t bother, uncocked there isn’t too much pressure to worry about electric10162 1 AWM
archer36 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 I have never seen any recommendations to unstring a bow in the off season.

There’s a tremendous amount of torque on most ravens. Do a little research. How can you explain all the cable failures.

Most pro shops say one year
smittty Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 Mine broke while sighting in the first time brand new raven replaced everything

I agree and sometimes it’s the hard cases made for the bows putting tension on where the strings go around the cams creating an unseated position . Also a unnoticed cracked nock causes a dry fire effect. A lot is due to user error Edited December 30, 2024 by MGHunter66 AWM
