Anti hunters are relentless, are liars, & should mind their own business. This guy who nets pheasants should be charged for possessing pheasants without a stamp. He said they get shot with buckshot or bullets…smh.  These programs are far from hunting wild pheasants but the put n take program ….like trout stockings…are instrumental with recruiting new hunters, providing recreation/food, & adding billions$ to the economy!

but I can certainly see the same attack coming here in jersey.

Just curious. How long until there is a sizable increase in pheasant stamp cost or the program drastically changes?  They already got rid of raising birds, I have no clue about hunter numbers but a lot of people I know don’t even bother with state land anymore, myself included.  I rather spend the cash and go to a preserve once a year. I also rather chase deer but nonetheless it’s been $40 for a while now.
EDIT: found this online showing sales. Unrelated but a big fishing license decline.

There are guys on Facebook Upland Birds NJ page always complaining that they’d be willing to pay more for a stamp if F&W did a better job stocking birds.  They keep saying it enough and the legislature may get ideas about raising the price.

Right now it is a losing program in nj so i think the state dies the best they can.  With all the new regulation its def cheaper to buy birds than raise them here.New York uses pitman Robinson funds for their pheasant program not sure why we don't or can't.  I would gladly pay more but would expect field maintenance and habitat improvement as well as the birds obviously.   But I'm spoiled and can pretty much hunt 4days a week at least the guy that only gets out on Saturday is not going to pay more

My n my bro go sometimes.   Mostly for some air.  To get out together.    Get some exercise.  Maybe shoot the gun.  Get some nice table fare

my brother went twice so far this season     He didn’t get a shot off yet.   I think he only saw one bird that flew over us.  I went 5 times.   I saw 4 and got 3.

he don’t deer hunt.  I only hunt 6 day.   He bought his first lic n stamp last season since 99.

If it goes up much he won’t go out.  If he don’t go I won’t buy a stamp.    I think a lot of ppl are that way.

i took a long break from pheasant.  My whole family hunted pheasant in the 80s n 90s.  Pop stopped going,  all his sons stopped.    I got a stamp in 99. My last year.   Then didn’t get one till 2019.      Big difference in the amt of birds available.      Stocking numbers seem about the same.    It’s the predators taking them out before daylight that make the difference

NY doesn’t have an autonomous Fish & Game Council. They have to rely on Albany politicians to make hunting, fishing and trapping regulations. Some libtard from Manhattan keeps pushing to get stocked pheasants abolished.  The same won’t happen here so long as the Council makeup remains the same.

I agree. It's a difficult situation. But I feel worthwhile. I, too, have always been (shoulder surgery this year) lucky to be able to grab the dog and go during the week. Very pleasant experience. In our high school my sons could sometimes leave one period early.

Pennsylvania's pheasant license doesn't come close to paying for the stocking program. Before 2016(?) there was no additional license. It serves a purpose. It's not a zero-sum game. It's by far kids' first game ... not spring turkey, rabbits, etc.

I would gladly pay more both in NJ and PA.

My brother lives in Utah and PR funds most, but not all, of their stocking program. Used to, anyway.
