JerseyMike Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 (edited) So today I cashed in my BassPro/Cabelas gift cards I got for Christmas and bought ladder stands for me and my daughter. I personally haven't hunted from a tree in some years, been strictly ground blind hunting, but there's some real good timber on the property (real good deer sign/area) we hunt and the land owner gave us the green light to basically put as many up as we want and I think we'd do well in an elevated position in this area. My question is, do you guys like ladder stands? Safe?, Comfortable? I want something safe, especially for my daughter, as it'll be her first time hunting from a tree stand. I've only ever used hang-ons. Gonna be ordering Hunter Safety Systems full body harnesses and life lines as well. Ordered these, its 18 feet: Edited December 28, 2024 by JerseyMike Rusty, BHC, BowhunterNJ and 2 others 5

If you are going to hunt from a tree on private property then yes, ladder stands are the safest and most comfortable way to go. Best of luck to you and your daughter @JerseyMike !! BowhunterNJ Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 I really like ladder stands, very comfortable and great for leaving in a spot you'll hunt year after year. Be sure to add a lifeline to every stand for safety, it's great peace of mind! toxo and JerseyMike 1 1

res3301 Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Not sure how old and what weight your daughter is but fall pro has a max AND minimum weight requirement. Any fall pro is better than none but search for systems that are optimized for her. Good luck and have fun hunting with her. JerseyMike 1 Last year I went fishing with Salvador Dali. He was using a dotted line. He caught every other fish. -Steven Wright

ratherbhunting Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 The Tree Stand Wing Man is also a good option for a safety system. treestandwingman.com electric10162 and JerseyMike 1 1
Rjtfd Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Very safe but don’t get complacent. Hookup to life line on the ground. Some guys feel they are very sturdy and wait to climb up to hook up. Don’t. Setting one up can be a little dicey though. Same hook up while setting it up. JerseyMike 1

That is a very small platform for a ladder stand . its built more for xbow and gun hunting . IMO stands having a flip back seat with a long deep platform are much better suited for bow hunting the truth 1
electric10162 Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 I have at least 20 ladders on my property including a few 21 foot Milleniums. I just picked up two Hawke 21 footers. Supposed to be as comfortable as the Millenniums. JerseyMike and nmc02 2

I have a few Denali’s out , when I bought those I didn’t see the seat doesn’t flip back . wish it did , very comfortable stands . i wish the ladder was a little. Stronger built. best stands were the field and stream outposts with extra section . they are so comfortable you don’t move sitting I’m them for hours , and were super well built
roy381 Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 I hunt both a blind and ladder stands. Over the years I moved on from single ladders to double ladders for a more comfort. JerseyMike 1
