Felt good to get out yesterday. Sadly will be all gone with this warm rain the next few days. A few perch and slime rockets caught. Dropped a few others on tips ups.  Good to see the flags going again.

Budd lake. Had about 3-4 inches in some spots.  2 in others. We stayed fairly close to shore. Rain won’t help today. Be careful if you go.

I saw a forecast of a polar vortex hitting the northeast in mid January, so maybe you’ll still be ice fishing.

Saw a guy on that pond In allamuchy state park right off exit 19 on 80 yesterday around noon

has anyone ever caught trout in NJ ice fishing?  How do you ice fish for trout?

No different than ice fishing for any other species. Obviously not many NJ lakes or ponds have stocked trout, but the ones that do you can catch them through the ice.

I decided not to go today...rain just stopped and slightly less than 4 inches where I fish.

Hopefully get to go here in January, if not I will go in PA.

Silver Lake made the NJ Fish & Wildlife Digest last year when the Conservation Officers caught the guys who were over the limit on trout.

Saw drunk idiots out on Cranberry lake with quads last night.  I kept waiting for a “natural selection” moment but they got lucky.  I was considering it but I am 35 lbs heavier than when I used to venture out on 3-4” of ice.

You weigh as much as my left leg and I have been out on 4" of ice. Just not white or cloudy ice. Has to be black. I have fallen in before also though. No fun.

That’s a ballsy idiotic move to be on quads on this ice.  Def not ready yet for machines. Almost certain death and loss of machine.
