First sit with it… my buddy made it for me after he took a bear on my property last year he finished it this past September.. never hunted with a stick and string but I’ve shot it like crazy the last few months feeling confident.

was cold this am. 9 degrees in zone 2, I saw 8 deer, 6 were bucks, one was decent but I gave him a pass, I was looking for a 10 point that has been very elusive, I was sure today was the day.

 

Decent buck, called him in with buck and doe grunts

Was after a big doe and only saw 9 bucks within range …..

Had a run in of the third kind tonight, actually the third time a neighboring property owner tried claiming public land was his.  A van is backing up the road as I'm walking out to it with a few guys in it..  

1-Who are you?

2-I'm walking out!

2-I'm walking out from hunting!

1- That's my property you're coming out of

2-No, I'm hunting the refuge. The sign is right there up the road.

1- I own where you're coming from.

2- No you don't.  The drainage ditch is the border, and I'm in the cedars out in the refuges field.

1- The only cedars are on my property, I own out into the field.

2-No, You own to the drainage ditch.  Are you telling me you own part of the refuge?

1-I'm going to follow your tracks tomorrow to see where your hunting.

2- Go ahead, straight down into the field and into the patch of cedars.

3-(another chimes in from the truck) Why don't you walk out the field instead of coming out this way?

2 -Because it's easier and shorter to take the road than walk through fields of burrs.

3-It's mowed.

2- No it's not, it's all thick crap!

3-Where's your orange? (still wearing his orange)

2-I'm bow hunting, don't need it.

Double checked the maps and he only owns to the drainage ditch, not where I was walking out or where I'm hunting. 

Must have to do with the 2 big bucks I had on camera there.

Depending on where you’re hunting, the 10 is dead.
