Was fortunate enough to finally connect with a good doe this evening. About 16' up and 19yrds out. Quartering away shot everything was picture perfect.

Let arrow fly 32" draw @ 65lbs 322 grain arrow with 100 grain Three blade Thunder Head on top.

Hit mark I wanted and was completely not happy with the reaction.

She jumped but did not mule kick ran 20 yd stopped no hunchback no tail wag. No reaction to the shot yet could visibly see a lot of blood and the mark that I hit coming from her side.

She went 10 more yards and stood there for a few minutes and then finally got the leg wobbles. Went to fall over and caught herself  and stood back upright.

Shot was taken at 1556. I sat in stand till dark 1710  as I saw her where she laid.

Went home got dinner together ready and took Bugs to Jujitsu.

Went back at 1805 and she was dead right where she laid.

Entrance point was perfect. Should have been a double lung across the top of the heart outside the inner pocket of the opposite shoulder.

However hit and sled down a bunch of ribs and ricocheted out to the right instead of sliding into the left penetrating through.

I've shot many deer that the arrow slid one or two ribs before entering but, this one did not it went out instead of in.

Only thing I can think is her reaction and way moved with the hit?

Arrow is gone no clue where it bounced off to, got to look in the light as I backed out in dark and only looked where she was standing when came back.

Crazy but happy to have her down and not looking everywhere right now.

And my asshole female all dressed up for Christmas already just had to help out.

Hard to believe a fixed head would do that. A fletch must have come off in flight causing arrow to hit her sideways.

Nothing spooks deer more than my stank…

Congrats.  That is weird.  Guessing she was quartering just enough to cause that to happen, or moved when you shot, or hit a branch on the way there.  I ve done nearly all of the above.  I had one doe that was perfectly broadside.   When I shot she dropped and spun away from me.  Arrow hit her in the back of the head and came out the mouth.....  regardless you got her so good work.

I would think she was rolling away from the shot.

I do think arrow did make it into the cavity as not much on the outside to cause her to die .

Had to hit an artery.

Thinking if you look for the arrow on the path she ran you will find it fell out .

highly doubt it passed through staying outside the deer and under the arm pit at the shoulder  without seeing an exit along brisket

The picture of the inside of the cavity shows where the arrow slid along the ribs but it never entered.

Total crazy, she only went 30yrds after the hit.

I didn't walk the trail she took more than the last 5yrds as I knew where she was.
