Hey guys, my wife and I are moving to the Middletown area. Most of my hunting is public land in hunterdon/morris county areas. Are there any township management programs to look into? Currently apart of the Readington program and I’ve had good experiences. Mostly hunt Deer & small game

Appreciate the help

Monmouth CO parks. Stands every hundred feet or so but there’s deer and you won’t see too many guys in the woods probably more dog walkers. I tried it it wasn’t for me

Yep. Monmouth county parks has a very well run program….probably something similar to Hunterdon/Readington program that you’re familiar with. $50 annual fee, I think 2 does before you can get a buck, lots of participation but you can get away from most w extra effort. Deer are pretty plentiful. Don’t forget to submit your end of year report card or you won’t be allowed to hunt following year. Start scouting now or as soon as you can for next season!

Middletown lets you still be close enough to Hunt the Hunterdon county parks stuff , as well as the Monmouth county parks .

Hunterdon as you know hunting there is limited access , and you pay for each season at a certain park .

monmouth has the sane fee , but allows you to hunt every park for the entire season .

because of that you will see a lot more stands in the Monmouth system at some of the parks .

distance to many of the Monmouth parks is actually further than the run back to Hunterdon county from Middletown .

monmouth hunts you only have to shoot one doe a year to be eligible to buck hunt . Where Hunterdon it’s a doe per season to shoot a buck in that season

most of the Monmouth parks are Bow only .

Monmouth county has very good genetics for big bucks. public land will yield some big deer but it will be difficult. If you knock on doors and get the right piece of private land you should have no problem taking a trophy buck every year.

Thank you guys for the info. I work all over central jersey, so anytime I’m in the area I have some decent little public spots throughout Hunterdon, Morris, Middlesex. Monmouth county parks system seems like a good bet. Appreciate it 🤝🏻

What's wrong with seeing bears! It's sure better than seeing nothing all day!

Bears are cool until they overtake the deer sightings
