tuny Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 They do not appear to be elk, but there is a farm in Warren county that raises elk.

mazzgolf Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 So.. what IS the rule for something like that? We don't have an official season, and I don't even think its listed as a game animal or even a non-game animal in NJ statutes... so... can you shoot it legally???

They would probably charge you with animal cruelty since it’s not in the NJ fish and game digest.
Trophy8 Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 IMO it's not an elk. Looks.to be a cross breed between elk and sika deer.

People say the same about a mountain lion, which is frequently claimed to be seen up here in zone 5. My neighbor claimed to see one in their yard. I don’t believe it

mazzgolf Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Is it out of the question that an elk can walk over here from PA? I dunno. Regardless of whether we really do have an elk here, I was just curious... what would happen IF an Elk from PA walked over here? Is it open season???!
