FDhunt1213 Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 Does anybody squirrel hunt with a pellet gun? And if so what gun and what pellets are you using? We got a major squirrel population on our deer lease and we’re gonna give it hell lol
mazzgolf Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 Me! Though my airgun doesn't have good range - bad accuracy once I go out to 20 yards. Usually good 15 yards and in. I gotta get close. It's a Benjamin Titan NP .22. I use the Crosman round nose pellets. I tried other pellet designs (point-tip, hollow) but the accuracy was even worse. Avoid the frustration - buy an airgun with good accuracy at least out to 25 yards. Or just use a shotgun :}

tankgijohn72 Posted Tuesday at 12:26 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:26 AM Benjamin maximus 22 cal. Premier round nosed pellets. Precharged pneumatic is nice. Pretty good results to 30-35 yds. Get multiple pellets and see what rifle shoots well.

I found a pellet my .177 gamo likes now it’s grouping 1/2” at 30 yards and golfball sized at 50 yards pretty happy with it
tankgijohn72 Posted Tuesday at 01:53 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:53 AM That's pretty good. I limit my shots to 40 or less. I carry a rangefinder to account for pellet trajectory. After you get a few look up some recipes from the world championship squirrel cook-off. Good stuff FDhunt1213 1
SPEARFISH Posted Tuesday at 03:15 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:15 PM I have an older Beman that's pretty good. .177 FDhunt1213 1
RHolbrook609 Posted Tuesday at 05:05 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:05 PM I got a Benjamin Nitro Prowler .22. I struggled to get it dialed in but I found a website that sold a variety box of different pallets all of types and companies and weights. Definitely shot better with higher quality pellets. Found the one it liked the most. After I upgraded the scope and now I’m grouping no issues at 40 yards. At first I thought the gun was trash but now I love it. Unfortunately that website went out of business so I’m not sure if you can find that type of variety pack anywhere else
Kayak Ken Posted Tuesday at 06:07 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:07 PM I had a CO tell me that most Gamo pellet guns with the whisper feature are illegal in NJ. They consider it a suppressor. It's ridiculous if you ask me. Anyway, I have the Gamo Swarm .22 with the 10rd mag. I sighted it in at 20yd and it is very consistent. mike033089 1
