So I think one of my 20ga ultra slug took a crap. Was shooting at the range and for some reason it decided to not hinge closed anymore. Hammer fires, shell ejects and it clicks fully open but won't "click" closed, it just flops open. Has anyone encountered this or have a suggestion on the fix?

Thanks

Mike

Common Culprit: Locking Spring Failure
Many single-shot H&R shotguns rely on a locking spring to hold the action closed. A broken or weak spring is a common issue that would cause the barrel to remain "floppy" and fail to click shut.

Could be crud in the locking mechanism causing to not close when you try to lock it up. Try cleaning with gunblaster to free it up. If no good something is broke or stuck

Pulled it apart and there was unfired powder crudded up in the action. Cleaned it out and all good.

They are good shooting guns. I love mine. I know I shouldnt say it too loud but I have had zero problems with mine.

I have 3, two 20's and a 12. Never had an issue with any of them till now.
