I bought the arctics last year not the extremes. Intent was ice fishing but they will serve double duty for hunting in cold snowing conditions as long as I am not slogging through swamps etc. They are insanely warm and comfortable. Feels like walking on pillows. I am extremely happy with them. The comfort is unreal. I see why they are used in the arctic. They do have a weird sizing situation tho due to the liner. Have to size up two to three sizes I think. I have both those and the Schnees extremes if you ever wanted to meet up and check them out before you order. It sucks not being able to try any of this stuff on locally.

The problem with the "extreme" boots is that they are heavy and cumbersome. Not ideal for walking but for more stationary activities like ice fishing.

That is true for most.  Not for the steger’s tho. They are lighter than most early season boots. Have no idea how they are so warm. There claim is your foot being able to breathe and not sweat etc. My PACs however are not lite and are good for walking to stand etc. not something I want to wear if I plan on covering a couple miles but you wouldn’t be wearing them for that any way. Most guys aren’t walking far to begin with in truly cold temps.
